By working proactively UCSB research funding from industry increased 49% in fiscal year
2008
Our “long-term” research programs with industry amount to over $9 million annually. Total
industry research funding is ~$16 million
Centers, such as our Solid State and Energy Center (>$ 6 million annually) and Mitsubishi
Chemical Center for Advanced Materials ($ 3 million annually) provide real-life projects
for our students to work on
Multi-millions of dollars have been committed to “endowment” efforts by industryEndowed chairs
