Team Managers Meeting 1 25 October 2016 Questions: Q 1 – No declarations so how late can you pick up your athletes pack? A: You must pick up your pack at the TIC before reporting to the call room at your event so allow enough time to do this especially if competing at a different venue. The handbook shows the call room times. Q2 – How do you withdraw from an event? A: 1. Fill out a withdraw form at the TIC by 12pm the day before the event. 2. In case of last minute injuries withdraws can be notified in the Call Room. If you qualify for the next round and don’t wish to compete you must notify the TIC within 30 minutes of the qualifying results being published. Q3 – Why is there an inconsistency in heat sizes? A: This is because we have 12 lanes in the straight so we can minimise the number of rounds required especially for older age groups. Q4 – Medal Ceremonies how will they be held straight away if there are 2 hours to appeal? A: Appeals should be lodged within 30 minutes so medal presentations will be held 30 minutes after results published. Two hours is allowed for travelling from other venues to the Appeal Board at WAAS. Q5 – Why can’t Team Managers pick up packs for athletes who cannot arrive earlier? A: Team Managers can pick up packs with a copy of the athlete’s ID and a letter of authorisation. Q6 – Where is the Call Room for throws at UWA Sports Park? A: The Call Room is at WAAS and competitors will be escorted over to the grounds. Q7 – When and where are lane draws posted? A: Lane draws will be put up on the notice boards on the first level of WAAS. Normally they will be up in the late afternoon for the following day’s events. More information on the posting of results and lane draws online will be advised when this is set up. Q8 – What are the rules for team members of different age groups? A: Members of a team must be all competing in the same race. At least one member must be in the actual age group of the team. Up to two members can be of a higher age group. See Handbook P44. Q9 – Transport why not more buses to WAAS? A: The recommended and quickest transport is by train from the City to the Showgrounds Station in Claremont. From there shuttle buses are running to and from WAAS at regular intervals of 15 minutes or less. For ECAC there is a train to Cannington Station which is a short walk to ECAC. There is also a shuttle on demand for those that need assistance. For the Marathon there will be 15 minute shuttle buses leaving from Wellington Street in the City from 4.30am. The addresses of all the venues are on the back of your accreditation pass. Q10 – What spikes do we need? A: They must be Christmas Tree or Pyramid shaped spikes, either steel or ceramic. 7mm for track events, 9mm for field events and 12mm for high jump and javelin. You can purchase these at the Athletes Foot stall at WAAS. Q11 – Will there be shade at ECAC? A: Yes there will be a marquee for spectators as well as tents and chairs for competitors in the field. Q12 – Why didn’t we know about the change of rules for teams earlier? A: The rules haven’t changed but they may have not been followed correctly in the past. Q13 – Will important changes be put on the website? A: Yes they will be put on the noticeboard and on the website. Q14 – With Pole vault will there be a choice of ends? A: The Pole vault will be run from the Southern to the Northern end. Q15 – Can sprinters warm up on the track instead of on the grass? A: The grass track is the official warm up area. However it has been decided for the sprints that athletes will be taken from the call room to the back straight for a supervised final warm up before going to the start line. This is not available at any other time and if other athletes use it then it will be discontinued. Notices: N1 – Correction to Handbook P66: Automatic Qualifying Standards Women Jumps should say Age W55. N2 – Note that the smoke haze is from prescribed burning to prevent summer bushfires and is unavoidable but not dangerous. N3 – Note once in the call room athletes cannot leave until escorted to their competition start. N4 - Questions to be submitted to the TIC by 6pm the day before the next meeting.
