This is a Stuttgart Media University student who will pick you up at the airport or the train station and take you to your room. He or she will answer your first questions and help you to settle down. All international students will meet for the first time during the traditional welcome breakfast which opens the orientation weeks. ORIENTATION WEEKS Before the semester starts, we are there to help you organise your exchange semester: registration at the local authorities, opening a bank account, getting your student ID, obtaining a ticket for public transport, internet access and many other things. Your intensive German language course will take place during the orientation week and, of course, so will a lot of other activities, excursions and fun. LANGUAGE CENTRE The German intensive language courses are offered at different levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are organised by our language centre. What does "communication" mean? How are virtual worlds created? What happens behind the scenes in TV studios? What is important in the design of packaging and how does advertising actually work? Students at Stuttgart Media University are concerned with these and many other questions. Starting in fall-term October 2016/17 Stuttgart Media University will offer a new minor with focus on content strategy. The programme puts a strong emphasis on leadership and innovation in content-oriented disciplines like corporate publishing, journalism or corporate communications. It is suitable for all bachelor students interested in learning more about innovative content strategies/production and communication strategies. The programme encompasses 30 ECTS in total. With 16 Bachelor's degree programmes, five full-time Master's degree programmes, two part-time MBAs and doctoral programmes, Stuttgart Media University covers a broad spectrum of media expertise: from printed media to electronic media, from media theory and journalism to media production, from media design to making media available. It will be taught in English together with regular degree seeking students, typically in their last year of their bachelor studies. A specific benefit of studying in Stuttgart is the state of the art equipment in our Convergent Media Center and our multidisciplinary approach. This minor is suitable for students with a content oriented background, e.g. journalism, media and communication, pub lic relations, corporate communications. It enables students to develop and implement new content solutions. The curriculum follows the general principle of Stuttgart Media University as an entrepreneurial university. The teaching staff consists of researchers and senior scientists coming from diverse fields. Multiple teaching approaches (traditional classroom, small groups, news rooms, action and project based learning, guest lecturers) distinguish the minor from traditional programmes of study abroad programmes by creating a seamless experience for the learner. Course assignments, and thus assessments, will result in outcomes such as content productions in print, online or mobile platforms, scientific papers and presentations.
