It is the first time in their 226-year history that the MCC has fielded an age group women's side, with Hennessy being called up having impressed selectors with her performances for Worcestershire Cricket Board during the 2012 county season. For further details visit the website at www.barnardsgreen.com or collect an entry form from behind the bar or contact Andy Lamb on 07973 679774 or by e-mail on [email protected] Forms to be returned asap as indicated Membership and Subscriptions Unfortunately progress and improvements on and off the field do not come cheap and each new season brings more challenges financially. Therefore we are asking for your help with this We need to collect the new season’s subscriptions quickly and efficiently to allow us to meet all our pre-season costs. The tournament, which runs from February 18-23, is being delivered by sports tour company Sport Arabia and forms part of a wider MCC Spirit of Cricket Festival, which will culminate in the MCC versus Champion County match — a game that will include Worcestershire seamer Alan Richardson. At the AGM the members agreed to increase annual subscriptions to £100 (concessions available) but to include with this the cost of winter nets (which actually represents a net saving on last year’s charges). During the six-day tournament Georgia will play for the MCC in three 50-over group matches against Durham, Devon and Essex women's under 19s. The final will take place at the Zayed International Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. If you wish to do this staged payment option please can you let us know (contact details below). The payments can be made by standing order into the club bank account using the following details: ECB head of women's cricket Clare Connor said: "Georgia had an impressive season last year for club and county and has a lot of potential with an exciting future." AGM Report Players Barnards Green Cricket Club held their AGM in the clubhouse on November 25th . The Chairman Andy Lamb gave a summary of the season which saw the 1st XI promoted for the third year in succession to Division One of the Birmingham & District Premier League. He congratulated all players on their efforts and also recognised the achievements of the 2nd XI in finishing in third spot and the 3rd and 4th XIs in maintaining their Worcester County League status. He also gave special praise to the Sunday 2ndXI who rose from bottom of the Sunday League in 2011 to runners up in 2012. Barnards Green Cricket Club are pleased to announce three new signings for the forthcoming 2013 season which will see them competing in Division One of the Birmingham Premier Cricket League. Whilst celebrating these successes he warned that there needed to be a major push on fund raising if the club was to sustain its success and that the help of all playing members was paramount. Following reports from the Secretary and Treasurer the Executive Committee announced the appointments of captains for the 2013 season. As reported previously, Tim Williams has stepped down from his highly successful tenure as 1stXI captain and he is to be succeeded by Andy Ford. The other senior weekend teams will retain their captains from 2012 Following the announcement of these appointments elections took place and the following officers were elected by the membership for the 2013 season. Chairman Andy Lamb Secretary Kath Wood Treasurer Kevin Golder Director of Cricket Andy Harris Director of Development Andy Wheeler Elections were followed by a Report from Colts Coordinator Robin Longmore who described 2012 as the most frustrating in memory due to the number of games needing to be rearranged due to inclement weather. He described a broadly successful season in games that took place and thanked allthe team managers and coaches. Specific credit went to Georgia Hennessey who recently made her debut for the England u19 T20 team against Pakistan this season. Robin concluded by revealing that he intended to step down at the end of 2013 after ten years of Colts coordination but looked forward to closely supporting his successor. The membership were then appraised of the proposed new format of a mixed programme of limited over matches to be played in the Birmingham League next season. The committee was mandated to vote in favour of the new proposals with the caveat that 2ndXI fixtures should remain as 50 over contests. Other major decisions taken at the AGM were Annual 6 a side to take place on Sunday May 26th Club Tour to take place in South Wales Tues 27th – Fri 30th Aug It was finally agreed that the club would actively welcome new playing members who are keen to make a contribution at whatever level and interested cricketers should contact the secretary Kath Wood initially on [email protected] These are firstly Mark Hardinges, the former Gloucestershire and Essex all rounder who, following a successful professional career in the first class game, is now cricket master at Malvern College. Secondly the Green will benefit from the presence of Graeme Cessford who is on a year’s leave from the RAF and who will be training and playing with Worcestershire. Graeme is a fast bowler and hard hitting bat who has extensive top class league and Minor Counties experience. Thirdly, young West Australian Alex Hepburn will be joining the North End Lane outfit from his home club of Willeton in Perth. Alex is a promising top order batsman who will be looking to develop his game in this competitive league. Malvern College student Alex Milton, a member of Worcestershire CCC Academy, has also joined. Alex made his debut for the County 2ndXI last season and had a very successful season in the Worcestershire County League. The cricket committee is keen to enable the Green to maintain their status in Div 1 and under the leadership of newly appointed captain Andy Ford are confident that this strengthening of the squad will go a long way to meeting that goal. Here’s to a great 2013 season!
