Team Selection Procedure

Team Selection Procedure
The following factors will be taken into account in the club’s selection policy
1. The four men’s teams and two women’s teams are to be run on a squad system
for each team. The squads will be determined at monthly selection meetings and
are not to be regarded as fixed for the entire season. All players are to be
encouraged to attend training.
2. No player is automatically guaranteed a place in a particular squad regardless of
which squad they were a member of during the previous month.
3. The selection of teams is primarily on playing form at the time of selection.
4. While it is the primary objective of the higher teams to win their respective league
competitions and all teams should aim to improve in terms of ability and overall
standard, Team Captains will consider more favourably for selection, players
who:
i.
Are demonstrably reliable and regularly available to play
(commitment and reliability during the current season should be
rewarded).
ii.
Pay their subscriptions on time.
iii.
Attend training on a regular basis.
There maybe circumstance beyond the control of an individual player that leads
to their non-availability (i.e. work commitments) and in these case this should not
be held against the player, but consideration for the other players must be taken
into account.
5. Squads will be reviewed on a monthly basis and change made where players are
clearly playing in the wrong squad. Team Captains and Club Coaches should
bring the attention to instances where players are clearly playing above/below
their level and adjustment will be made accordingly.
6. If any player feels they are being unjustly treated in the selection process, they
should first discuss this with their Team Captain. If they are still dissatisfied with
the response, they should refer the issue to the Club Captain/Chairman.
