VISION and STRATEGY
Preparing for Growth
“A great commitment to the
great commandment and the
great commission will grow a
great church.”
Vision statement
“We desire to be a community where all
can find, acceptance, help, forgiveness,
hope and purpose.”
A CARING FAMILY
Vision statement
“We desire to welcome 1000 members of
all ages, backgrounds and nationalities
into our church family, seeing each
person developing into Christ-like
spiritual maturity.”
A GROWING FAMILY
CHURCH = HOUSEHOLD or
FAMILY
Ephesians 2 v 19
1 Timothy 3 v 15
Galatians 6 v 10
Church life is essentially
RELATIONAL
1 TIMOTHY 5 v 1,2
“Don’t be harsh or impatient with an older
man. Talk to him as you would your
own father, and to younger men as
brothers. Reverently honour an older
woman as you would your mother, and
younger women as sisters.” (Message)
ROMANS 15 v 1 -7
Verse (7)
“Accept one another, then, just as Christ
accepted you, in order to bring praise to
God.”
Romans 5 v 8
“But God demonstrates his own love for
us in this: While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us.”
ACCEPT – “to take to oneself”
To welcome one another.
To willingly enter into relationship with
one another.
To value one another.
To take responsibility for one another.
New Commandment
“A new commandment I give you: Love
one another. As I have loved you, so
love one another. By this all men will
know that you are my disciples, if you
love one another.”
(John 13 v 34,35)
How can we build a caring
family of believers?
By each of us
growing to be more
like Jesus!
Colossians 1 v 28
“That we may present every person
mature – full-grown, fully initiated,
complete and perfect – in Christ, the
Anointed One.”
Family of God
Everyone helps each other move along
the path towards maturity in Christ.
Our lives are open to other’s wisdom
and encouragement.
Our attempts to serve each other are
open to review and correction.
You don’t need to know everything
before you start doing something.
“ONE ANOTHER”
Hebrews 10 v 24,25
“So let us consider how we may spur one
another on toward love and good
deeds. Let us not give up meeting
together, as some are in the habit of
doing, but let us encourage one another
– and all the more as you see the Day
approaching.”
“Give up”
To leave, to forsake or abandon.
Deliberately walking out or away.
Walking out on family responsibilities.
Growth Groups
Building blocks of authentic Christian
community.
Genuine friendships and sharing of
lives.
Relationships that provide
accountability.
Growth Groups
Support for our daily work.
Provocation and help to reach out to
our unchurched friends.
Safe relationships where we can receive
encouragement and healing.
Growth Groups
Where we receive our primary care and
work out “one anothering”.
Help each other understand and apply
God’s word into our lives.
And so much more…………..
Growth Groups = Living life
together in such a way:
Experience Christ’s presence through
His Spirit.
Express our love to Him in worship.
Exhibit our passion for Him in our
witness.
We desire to be:
