We are required by the NSW Department of Education and Training to inform parents and get permissions in
the areas listed below. This note will be filed in your child’s Student Record Card and will remain current for
the time he/she is enrolled at Hannans Road Public School.

Child Protection Lessons
As part of the Personal Development/Health/Physical Education curriculum, all children will participate in Child Protection
lessons. These lessons help children identify dangerous or uncomfortable situations and ways to seek help from trustworthy adults.
Some lessons may involve the naming of parts of the body. The Child Protection lessons have been developed by the NSW
Department of Education and Training and they are an important priority for schools.
I give permission for my child to participate in Child Protection lessons.

Permission To Publish Student Work
At Hannans Road Public School we like to acknowledge the great work done by our students. Often the school is able to present or
publish our students’ work both within the school (e.g. in the office window) and/or outside the school (e.g. at a presentation to
other schools, website, etc).

Permission To Publish Student Image (Photograph)
At times the school will seek publicity in the media (newspaper, radio/television) for various programs and events. It is likely that
students could be photographed, filmed or interviewed in the course of this publicity. Students may also have an image (still or
video) displayed on our school website.

Please note the following also.
1. The school does not require permission for students to attend approved shows by visiting performers within the school, but will
normally advise parents and seek such permission.
2. The principal has authority to approve local excursions of a minor nature, where these occur on an unexpected basis (e.g. a
matter of interest occurs in a local park). Any such excursion will involve supervision by teachers. Normally, permission notes will
be required for all excursions.
3. The school can show PG rated videos that have been deemed suitable for students by teachers.
4. As part of the Personal Development/Health/Physical Education curriculum, all children will participate in Drug Education
lessons. The Drug Education lessons have been developed by the NSW Department of Education and Training.
5. There is no personal injury insurance provided by the NSW Department of Education and Training for students for any school
activity. Parents are advised to assess the level and extent of any additional medical insurance cover above that provided by
Medicare.
