UWAHC – Schools program and J1/2 Competition 2015
OBJECTIVE:
1. To conduct a schools program in our 5 target schools – Floreat, Mt
Hawthorn, Rosalie, Jolimont and Subiaco.
2. To ensure that we generate players/team from these schools into our
J1/2 and J3/4 program. (This is our future junior player pool.)
3. To conduct the J1/2 competition with 8 teams and 80 players in 2015.
SCHOOLS PROGRAM:
The program in each school will be;








Target year 1 and 2 as well as year 3 in the schools where we do not have
players in that age group. (Rosalie, Jolimont & Subiaco)
2 or 3 week program with each class during school hours.
Undertaken as early in term 1 as possible so that we have time before school
holidays to form teams. Ideally teams should be mixed boys/girls and Yr 1/Yr
2.
UWAHC nominated school parent coordinator to coordinate our efforts with
parents at the school particularly in establishing the teams.
Flier to all participants at first session.
Registration details handed out at last session.
Strategy in place to generate the J1/2 teams and assist with J3/4 & J5/6. (By
UWAHC School Parent Coordinator and coaches working in the school)
UWA provides a Coach the Coaches session for all coaches planned for
Sunday April 19th 2015 8am-10am at UWA field 1 (the Athletics track).
Target – 1-2 teams from each school into J1/2 competition.
J1/2 COMPETITION:








Commence Saturday 2 May 2015.
Finish on Saturday 15 August 2015.
12 week program. Break for June long weekend and school holidays.
9am to 10am each Saturday.
Teams about 10 players. 7 players on the field at any one time.
Conducted on grass field 1- below AJ (Football) Pavilion – UWA Sports Park
Mt Claremont. One quarter field.
Largely schools based teams but there will be 1 or 2 non school based teams.
Each team will need to appoint a coach, manager and umpire.

Training – generally after school on the school oval but can be at UWA Sports
Park.
Each team will need a team uniform, playing shirts provided by UWAHC and
school shorts.
Cost $120 per player.
Minimal rules. Plan is to ensure that all players enjoy the experience.
No scores kept. No premiership tables.

UWAHC School Parent Coordinator:
This is an important role as we need to ensure that parents at the school are aware
of the schools program and interest is generated at the time the school coaching is
being conducted.
The School Parent Coordinator should be able to answer any questions that parents
may ask and then to ensure that we generate one or two J1/2 team from the school.
They will need to make sure that the interested parents register their children
through the club website.
They may need to find additional players and to help identify coaches etc.
