Rules and Regulations
Game: Futsal (Men & Women Category)
The guidelines of the futsal tournament are stated as below:
1. Eligibility

MIA’s member firm in Johor Bahru is welcomed to compete in the tournament.
There are no age restrictions.
Two categories will be held: Men & Women.
2. Dress code
Appropriate futsal apparel and footwear.
3. Equipment
House futsal ball will be provided.
4. Match Format

All teams will play against each other.
Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a
loss.
Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference, and then goals scored. If still equal,
tie-breaker penalty will be held to determine the winner of the tournament.

All teams will compete in two groups of four teams each.
Each group plays a round-robin tournament, in which each team is scheduled for three
matches against other teams in the group.
The top two teams from each group advance to the semi-final. Points are used to rank the
teams within the group. Teams receive three points for a win and a point for a draw. No
points are awarded for a loss.
The knockout stage is a single-elimination tournament in which teams play each other in
one-off matches, with penalty shootouts used to decide the winner if necessary.
The winner of the semi-final will advance to final to decide the winner of the whole
tournament.

5. Team
a. Each team is allowed to register 8 players. The players must be the firm’s employees.
b. A firm can join up with another firm and form a team. However, a single team can comprise
of players from two different firms only.
c. Dateline of submission for the team is on 14th of July 2017.
6. Game
a. 5 players, including a goalkeeper will be on the field for each team.
b. Duration of the game: Two periods each lasting 7 minutes with 1 minute half time break.
c. The match will be officiate by a referee who will enforce the futsal laws, apply the advantage
rule, keep a record of all incidents, stop game when deemed necessary, caution or expel
players of misconduct and others necessary action.
d. Substitution method: “Flying substitution”, all players but the goalkeeper enter and leave as
they please; goalkeeper substitutions can only be made when the balls is out of play and with
a referee’s consent.

Each player is required to wear proper sports attire during the game. Teams are
encouraged to wear same colour jersey to avoid confusion during the game. No bibs will be
provided during the tournament.
Please view this tournament as friendly. Any players who act in a way which the committee
perceives as hostile and inappropriate may be disqualified from the game.
All terms and conditions used are subject to change by the organizing committee, especially
the rules of the game.
8. Interpretation Clause
a. Any matters arising and not covered in the above rules and regulations will be
dealt with by the Organizing Committee whose decision shall be final.
