This workshop is packed with essential information and effective techniques for battling anxiety,
stress, depression, and phobias in children, adolescents and adults. This workshop is packed with
essential information for identifying, assessing, and effectively overcoming internalizing disorders.
Workshop Objectives:
1. Understand the foundational concepts and theories of stress and stressors apparent in
everyday life of self and others.
2. Identify and implement basic change strategies in the treatment of internalizing disorders.
3. Identify and apply anxiety, depression, and stress assessment strategies.
4. Identify personally held beliefs and values which facilitate and impede effective stress
management.

Bradley T. Erford, Ph.D., LCPC, NCC, LPC, LP, LSP, was the
2012-2013 President of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and is a professor in the
school counseling program of the Education Specialties Department in the School of Education
at Loyola University Maryland. He has authored or edited more than 30 counseling books. His
research specialization falls primarily in development and technical analysis of psychoeducational tests and outcomes research and has resulted in the publication of more than 60
refereed journal articles, more than 125 book chapters, and ten published tests. He has received
numerous awards for his scholarship and service to the counseling profession.

His busy professional life includes Professor Emeritus of Xavier University and director of the Center for
Reality Therapy. He is Senior Faculty for the William Glasser Institute in Los Angeles and was personally
appointed by Dr. Glasser to be the first Director of Training for the Institute. In this position, he coordinates
and monitors the Certification, Supervisor, and Instructor Training Programs.

SD Child Assessment Center (Pierre)
This presentation is filled with helpful information on the child abuse reporting process from start to
finish. The investigation process, assessment, victim’s rights, family assistance, legal aspects, tribal
law, local child advocacy centers, school counselor’s role in child abuse education, lessons and
curriculum are all areas that will be covered. While this pre-conference may be sponsored by the
school counselor association we highly recommend anyone working with children (agency
counselors, social workers, teachers, and administrators) to attend.
Workshop Objectives:
1. Update professional counselors on the Child Abuse Reporting Process
2. Review the Counselor’s role in reporting Child Abuse

they are with the South Dakota Counseling Association to receive the
group rate.
The hotel block will be released on March 27, 2016, and this rate cannot be
guaranteed after that time.
Cancellation/Refund Policy for 2016 SDCA Conference:
 Cancellation requests received prior to March 10, 2016 – Entire registration fee
less 10% for processing.
 Cancellation requests received between March 10-April 10, 2016 – Entire
registration fee less 20% for processing.
 NO REFUND for cancellations made after April 10, 2016.
