Crabtree is selected to participate in Georgia Dugout Club All State Game Pope Fasptitch team captain, Samantha Crabtree (class of 2017), has been selected as a Georgia Dugout Club All-State player for her on field efforts during the 2016 softball season. The Berry College commit had a banner year setting the school record for runs in a season with 40 as well as setting a school record for assists with 72. Sam is only 1 of 5 Pope players to ever make 3 trips in her career to Columbus for the State Finals tournament where Crabtree finished as a 4th place finisher in 2013 and 2016 and captured a State Championship in 2014. The Georgia Dugout Club selects 4 teams of seniors representing regions 1 &2, 3 & 4, 5 &6, and 7 & 8 to play in showcase games pitting each region against one another to ultimately determine who has the strongest region. Samantha will play for the region 5 & 7 team coached by Brooks Youngblood of Lambert High School and Justin Bishop of Parkview High School. Selection for the team is very competitive, as seniors from A – AAAAAA are considered for the team so Samantha is considered one of the top shortstops in the state being selected from a pool of approx. 100 schools. Pope has had quite the tradition with the GADC All State game as Samantha is the 6th Pope player selected to participate in this prestigious event. Sam will represent Pope in the All State game on November 12-13 in Lagrange Georgia at Lagrange College.
