New Recreation Professional
Scholarship INSERT YEAR
NZRA INSERT REGION branch are inviting applications for this
scholarship, established to support an individual who is starting a
career in the community recreation / parks / outdoor recreation/
facilities sectors. In INSERT YEAR, the scholarship is available for
one ‘young’ professional, provided they are able to make a
commitment to a minimum of 1 year to the INSERT REGION
committee as a student representative.
Benefits to the individual are:
 The scholarship will cover the cost for attendance to the (TICK ONE)
 NZRA National Conference registration (2 full days), including a social function on the first night,
awards dinner, contribution to travel and one night’s accommodation (if not resident in
immediate vicinity of the conference) on INSERT DATE AND LINK TO CONFERENCE
 JUST ADD WATER on INSERT DATE AND LINK TO CONFERENCE
 OUTDOORS FORUM on INSERT DATE AND LINK TO CONFERENCE
 AUSTSWIMPLAYSPACES on INSERT DATE AND LINK TO CONFERENCE
 GREEN PAVLOVA on INSERT DATE AND LINK TO CONFERENCE
 OTHER (PLEASE SPECIFY) on INSERT DATE AND LINK TO CONFERENCE
 Free entry to all NZRA INSERT REGION committee events over a one year period beginning
INSERT MONTH/YEAR.
 Professional association as a committee member of the NZRA INSERT REGION committee for
a period of up to one year beginning INSERT MONTH/YEAR.
 Career development opportunity and exposure to the wider industry.
 Broad networking opportunities and mentoring from industry leaders, especially those with a
management interest beginning with the INSERT REGION region.
 Leadership development through mentoring of new scholarship participants in their first year of
service to the committee (a mentor from the INSERT REGION Region will be provided over the
duration of the INSERT CONFERENCE Conference and for the one year as part of the
committee).
 Contribute towards an article for industry magazine or website if required.
 Region to add any further benefits
Applicant criteria:
 Open age
 Has been in the industry for a minimum of ONE year.
 Is signing up or has signed up as a NZRA Member (at minimum as a virtual member)
 Applicant to reside in the NZRA INSERT REGION Region.
Conditions of Sponsorship:
 Be available to contribute time on a monthly basis to work on the local NZRA INSERT REGION
regional committee for a minimum period of one full year from INSERT MONTH/YEAR
(Meetings are generally held monthly in region for approximately INSERT TIME per meeting).
 Be prepared to present a report on the conference experience and highlights to the INSERT
REGION regional committee and / or a regional NZRA event.
 Successful candidate/s will contribute to an article of interest for consideration for the NZRA
website and / or Australasian Parks and Leisure publication.

 Candidates may be required to attend an interview with the selection panel via teleconference.
 The decision of the selection panel is final, and no further correspondence will be entered in to.
