IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ!
Hello Parents!
I am sending this home hoping it gets to everyone. I have been using our new classroom
management and behavior system called Class Dojo for the start of our new year. One
of my favorite parts about it is that parents are kept in the loop easily and automatically. I
would love to get EVERY parent signed up either on your phone or computer (if you do
not have access to either of these please let me know via phone or note in your child’ s
folder and we can set something else up). I would love to have parents signed up by this
coming Monday, Janurary 16th.
Here is how it works:
For teachers:
Each time a child shows a positive behavior (Problem Solving, Acting Respectfully,
Working to do their Best, or Safe Choices) they earn 1 point. I can award it from my
phone or computer. Each time a child needs more than 1 reminder to be a self-manager
in a specific way they lose a point. I can see their average points throughout the day,
week, month and year all from my end (if any questions arise about behavior I have an
easy record of which points were given and when!). Also, the best part for me is I can
communicate with you through the message portion of my account (it is basically like
sending a text) and I can post fun pictures, videos, notes or information to our “class
story” (somewhat like a Facebook page). These pictures and messages stay confidential
within the app and only families from our class can see them.
For parents:
You will receive a notification on the app whenever your child earns or loses a point. You
can also access their “report”, which shows their averages. You can send me messages
through the app. (confidential of course). Most importantly you can view our class story
which will provide a glimpse of what is like to be in our classroom.
For students:
Students hear a ding or a buzzer sound whenever a student earns or loses a point. Each
point is given for specific actions and I make sure they know when they have lost or
earned a point in confidence. Students are motivated to do their best by trying to achieve
the most positive points and stay away from those reminder negative points. Each week
if your student has earned over 80% positive points they will receive a prize from my
prize bucket on Friday.
I truly hope you will enjoy being more involved in your students behavior and learning
with our new ClassDojo system. If you have any questions or would like me to refrain
from photographing your student to post on our class story please contact me as soon
as possible.
Thankyou!
Ms. Axtelle
