By many he was known as the greatest writer in the English language, and the world’s most significant dramatist. Shakespeare’s Influences In His Movement • Shakespeare rather than being influenced by a certain person in particular, he was influenced by earlier writings of multiple different people. • He may have took ideas from other writers, but the greatness of his imagination and language made the plays his own. What Plays Did William Shakespeare Write Shakespeare plays were categorized into three themes. History(10), Tragedy(10),& Comedy(17). He was also inspired by the world around him. His works consist of different sights and sounds, political struggles, and fear of disease. His awareness of the country side was obvious as well. Shakespeare would often include descriptions of deep forest, flowers, and traditions of ancient rural people. Most of Shakespeare’s plays are mostly categorized as comedy, tragedy, and histories. An example of one of his comedies would be The Merchant of Venice and A Midsummer’s Night Dream. One of his famous tragedies is Romeo and Juliet. His history plays were focused on kings or people of royalty, for example one play would be Coriolanus. Shakespeare's Birth and Death • Historians believe Shakespeare was born on April 23rd, 1564 and died on April 23rd, 1616. When Did Shakespeare’s Style Come About? • There is no evidence of his whereabouts or activities; this period is known as "Shakespeare's Lost Years." little is known of what he did in the years between 1585 and 1592. Plays attributed to him were being performed on the stage by 1592, so all that can be said is that he started his writing career before then. Importance of Shakespeare • Shakespeare is the one of the most popular dramatist and poet to come up fro the western world. His ability to sum up human emotions in simple yet well-expressed verses is one of most important reasons of his popularity. He was also a wonderful story teller. Modern story tellers still use Shakespeare's works in a way to connect to our modern world. Where Did Shakespeare Live? • William Shakespeare spent most of his life in two cities; the first being Stratford, where he was born and spent the first twenty years of his life. He then moved to London for the next twenty-five years. He acted and wrote plays there before going back to Stratford where he later died. How are Shakespeare's Play Relevant Today • William Shakespeare is a very important and well known person in today’s society. Students are still taught about Shakespeare’s works. Shakespeare’s work helped set a precedent for the development of modern dramas and plays. He is known for being one of the first writers to use modern prose in his writings. Shakespeare’s style didn’t really differ from the typical writing in his days.
