WSGA Strategic Plan Update
We have a total of 19 initiatives, and 66 goals!
WSGA Strategic Plan Update
Pillar One – Membership
 3 Initiatives
 10 goals
Accomplished
 Increase junior membership from approximately 2,000 to 6,000 by 1-12020.
 Develop a seamless and streamlined process to become a member of
the WSGA.
 Change the current model of the Annual Meeting and make necessary
changes to better align with the WSGA Strategic Plan.
 Create an outreach and communication program to foster collaboration
and networking, helping to build partnerships and diminish the sense of
competition among facilities, clubs, and their leaders.

Pillar Two – Governance and Human Resources
 3 initiatives
 13 goals
Accomplished
 Review and evaluate the current governance model (By-Laws) and
make necessary changes to meet the initiatives and goals of the
strategic plan.
 Institute a plan for individual staff development and professional
training that will assist in developing and retaining high quality people.
 Revise and update current employee handbook.

Pillar Four – Player Development and Participation

Accomplished
 Increase participation in the men’s state amateur and senior
championships and events
 Expand 1-day events like winter/spring series and Casual Golf Days to
increase WSGA event participation
 Develop a Play Nine event (or similar format) that can be expanded and
taken statewide
 Develop a coordinated junior golf strategy with major state organizations
 Increase playing opportunities by implementing programs similar to Youth
on Course

Pillar Five – Partnerships

Accomplished
 Revise and assemble collateral materials to be used for media-based
proposals
 Present media partnership proposals to at least five local TV, radio,
newspaper, periodical and internet entities)
 Develop a process/procedure to meet with and propose mutually beneficial
relationships to potential retail/in-kind partners
 Secure at least three partnerships that provide tangible benefits to the WSGA
and its members

Pillar Six – Marketing and Promotion

Accomplished
 Develop a cohesive brand strategy for the WSGA that reflects our mission and
vision to current and future members
 Create a system and procedure for all WSGA collateral to be evaluated and
updated annually
 Evaluate marketing department financial spending and create a budget that
can support changes consistent with the strategic plan
 Engage in five outreach opportunities with community organizations,
businesses, or not-for-profits
 Increase social media and online presence within community brands to
increase brand expression

rounds themselves)

Championships
Current Verbiage: In order to be eligible for consideration a player's primary golf
club must be a member of the WSGA or the player must live in the geographic area
that defines the Washington State Golf Association (WA & Northern Idaho).
Members in good standing who attend school out of state shall continue to be
eligible for consideration as long as they spend some part of the year living in the
area that defines the WSGA.
New Verbiage: In order to be eligible for consideration a player's primary golf club

the Performance Points were earned. Members in good standing who attend
