What’s The Wider Information Set (WIS)?
•
To inform the public about the quality of Higher Education, and in
particular, help provide potential students with information that will help
them make a choice about what and where to study
•
To help provide evidence to contribute to quality assurance processes
in institutions (specifically review by the QAA -the Quality Assurance Agency
for Higher Education)
•
To help provide information that institutions can use to enhance the
quality of their University level provision
Standards Verifier (External Examiners)
The Standards Verifier plays an important role in all Higher National courses
in the UK. External examining provides a means maintaining UK academic
standards within higher education institutions. The Standards Verifier is a
subject assessment specialist appointed by the awarding body to conduct
external examination. This verifies that centre management of programmes
and assessment decisions meet national standards. External examination is
conducted by an annual visit and reports are available internally for students
through Programme Committees.
Key Information Sets (KIS)
The Key Information Set (KIS) contains the information which students
nationally have said they find most useful when making choices about which
course to study. Some of the items are measures of student satisfaction from
the National Student Survey (NSS), others are from the Destination of Leavers
from Higher Education (DLHE) which surveys students who gained a
qualification from a university or college, six months after they left.
Where applicable you can see the KIS data directly on our course pages. You
may however choose to use the information on the Unistats website which
allows you to compare data from different Universities and Colleges.
