Using MiniVAN
1. Download the free miniVAN app:
a. If you are using an Apple device (iPhone or iPad) go to www.lpc.ca/minivan
b. If you are using an Android device go
to https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.voteractivationnetwork.minivan&hl=en
2. Log into MiniVan using your Liberalist username and password. The URL is the same web address that
you use to log into Liberalist. (e.g. my.liberalist.ca or www.vancanada.ca)
Logging In without ActionID allows you to log in with your Liberalist credentials -
3. Select your database: My Voters or Shared Contacts. This depends who you are reaching out to and
which side of Liberalist the list was created. Generally, your list can be found on My Voters. If you have
questions, confirm with your canvass administrator.
4. Choose the list that has been assigned to you.
5. Download the list onto your device.
Note: This permits you to do the identification without requiring access to WiFi or your cellular
data. Instead you can just upload the list once you have finished your canvass and returned to an area
with Wifi.
6. You will be brought to your list.
Your list will be sorted by address initially. You will see various elements on this screen.
a) The Apartment icon: Shows you how many apartments there are at that address.
b) The people figures: Will show you how many people live in the household if there are over 5.
c)Circle icon: Indicates how many people live in that household. If there are more than 6 people in one
household the total number of residents will appear in an oval shape.
7. You will go through your list, going from door-to-door. Once at a door, click on that address.
Note: Before beginning your canvass make yourself familiar with the script.
8. This will give you a full listing of all the individuals in that household.
9. Enter the data collected into that individuals profile.
NOTE: Ensure that when you speak to an individual at the door that you enter the data collected under
their name and not another member of the household or someone that may have lived at that household
in the past but no longer does.
NOTE: As a best practice, do not enter the data while you are at the doorstep but rather keep in mind the
responses you got from that individual and enter it as your walk to the next household.
NOTE: You can also choose to Show the Script (in which case the entire script will display on your phone
such as appears in the first image) or you can Hide the Script (in which case you will see only the data
point that you need to collect, as seen on the second image).
10. You can also see additional information on that individual by looking at the Details tab.
Here you can add phone numbers, email addresses etc.
11. Once you have completed your canvass you may upload your data to Liberalist by returning to the poll
summary screen (click on
). Here you can select the Sync icon (looks like arrows in a circle).
Select from the upload options (if you intend to do more canvassing in this poll select “Sync data and keep
canvass results”).

Quick Tips and Tricks

Using MiniVAN you are able to pull up information about the voters on the list through
the Details tab. You can toggle through three different screens that will display different types of
information about voters.
1. This screen can display information about the voters Name, Address, Postal Code, and
Phone Number. This will also allow you to add information about their Email
Address and Phone Number. You will also find a person's Contact History, Activist Codes
and Survey Questions associated with a voter's file.
