Season Information
Wow! I can’t believe it is already time to start planning for the 2008 Soccer Season. It is our hope that this letter provides
you with important dates and information to help get the season off on the right foot.
Board Positions
In every organization there comes a time to rotate leadership to infuse it with new ideas and keep momentum from
stalling. Unfortunately, this year we will say good-bye to some long standing Board members. Jill Deuel, our website
programmer, has been an indispensible partner in building www.mwsl.org and all the administrative conveniences it
allows. She will be desperately missed when she steps down in February. In addition, it is with a heavy heart that Kim
Anderson announced that summer 2008 will be her last season to serve as your President. She will continue to serve in
an at-large position as she transitions leadership to a new President.
In saying good-bye to these members, the MWSL Board is searching for people who are interested in actively
participating in our league leadership. Without the Board, there would be no MWSL. We encourage you to attend a
Board meeting to learn what it is all about or talk with a Board member for additional information.
Annual General Meeting
 March 8, 2008 at 9:30am

At the AGM we’ll elect board members, review the 2008 budget, cover changes in rules/regulations, go through
registration procedures, and much more. At least one member from each team is required to be present; for teams who
don’t have a member present, an additional $50.00 will be added to the team registration fee to help cover extra
administrative time and mailing charges. Bring your Team Binder to add or replace information as needed.
Summer Team Registration
 Due to consistent expenditures and gaining control of un-collected fees through the Performance Bond programfor the first time in recent years, teams will experience a $60 REDUCTION in their Team Registration Fees!
 Team Registration will be open March 8 – 23rd.
 Teams are required to submit a $100, non-refundable deposit (applied to your balance) to register the team.
 Teams are required to notify the MWSL at registration if they would like the Commissioner to schedule their fields.
Teams have until April 13th to notify the Commissioner if they obtain their own fields. After this date, teams are
responsible for the cost of the fields they requested regardless if they find an alternative field. Please keep in mind
that 70- 80% of MWSL scheduled games are at the National Sports Center in Blaine, MN.
Summer Team Registration Fee: $315.00 + $200.00 Performance Bond = $515.00
Summer Player Registration
 Players do not need to ‘Create A New Account’ if they registered in previous seasons - Accounts are
saved and carried over to future seasons. Click on ‘Forgot Your Password’ to have it emailed to you. Contact
[email protected] for additional questions regarding your account.
 Players can register once their Team’s deposit is processed by the Treasurer.
 Fall 2007 Players do not pay the registration fee again, however they must complete the on-line registration
process for Summer 2008 by logging into their account.
 Player Passes will be processed 2 weeks prior to the first game and mailed to Team Managers. Additional cards
processed twice a week. NO EXCEPTIONS for players who fail to submit payment or a photo in a timely fashion.
Summer Player Registration Fee: $21.00
MWSL Summer Clinic
 May 10th from 9:00am to 11:00am (warm up starts at 8:30am)
 Location: Elizabeth Lynn Robbie Stadium
2007 was the first year with no rain and we guarantee the same this year! Okay, maybe we can’t do that, but we can
guarantee that you’ll have a blast attending the clinic ran by the U of Minnesota Women’s Soccer Team Coach Mikki
Denney-Wright and Staff. Players of all skill levels are welcome to attend!
USASA Regional and National Cup Tournaments
If your team is interested in representing MN Women’s soccer in the USASA Regional Cup and National Cup
Tournaments, please notify Kris Nelson at [email protected] by February 1, 2008. Teams are responsible for all
expenses; however, the MWSL pays the team registration fee and provides $250 for Regionals and $500 for Nationals to
help offset some travel costs. The MSA also provides some financial assistance. There are four categories for women:
Open (requires significantly more travel), Amateur, Over 30 & U-23.
Referee Positions Available
The State Referee Committee and the MWSL Referee Assignors are in desperate need of female referee’s. If you are
interested in an opportunity to make a little extra money while learning more about soccer, please contact Tina Schwach
at [email protected] for additional information regarding the Referee Certification Clinics this spring.
