RFID Scanner game console /entertainment system security system
What product are we developing?
The product that we are developing is a security smart home entertainment system that uses RFID
scanners in order to keep the owners account and information safe.
How does it work?
The games console will require a “key tag” to be unlocked. The tag must be placed against the built in
RFID scanner for the console to become unlocked.
How does having an RFID scanner benefit the owner?
A scanner will immensely improve the security of the console by not only requiring a password (which
may be guessed) but by adding the use of a unique key that adds a second barrier after the password
so if the user looses their key (which can be replaced if this happens) the console is still protected and
if their password is guessed/hacked the key will still be in place to secure the console.
What are RFID scanners?
A radio frequency identification system or a RFID scanner uses tags or labels attached to objects to be
identified. Two way radio transmitter receivers called interrogators or readers send a signal to the tag
and read its response RFID tags can be either passive, active or battery-assisted passive. By reading its
RFID access can be granted to whoever is in possession of the key/label/tag etc.
