Prayer and Evangelism Evangelism 2015 We need to pray! • James 5:16, 1 Thess. 5:17 • 1 Samuel 12:23, “Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way.” • This includes reaching the lost – Colossians 4:2-4, Luke 10:2 Furtherance of His Kingdom P • Matthew 6:5, “Your kingdom r come” Note: His kingdom HAS a come (Col. 1:13), but can we y pray for the furtherance of His kingdom? Pray for the one r you want to reach! a That they may have an open y f o r heart and mind. For your wisdom, boldness, opportunities and removal of obstacles with that person The church P • A godly congregation is crucial to reaching the lost and establishing r babes a • Pray that she be receptive to the lost • Pray that she prepares in areas y where she is lacking • For specific efforts – such as our upcoming Gospel meeting f • Paul was continually praying for churches that all might be well. o 1 Thessalonians 1:3, 6, 9 r 2 Observations • Prayer does NOT excuse us of our responsibility to work • Not everyone will respond, no matter how much you pray! • But pray about it anyways! Let God handle the results! Am I praying about the lost as I should?
