The people were waiting for Jesus to save them. What does this mean?

Well, remember how we discussed sin yesterday? Everyone is sinful and
doesn’t deserve to be with God. Think about the worst punishment you can
possibly imagine, and make it ten times worse. That’s what we deserve to
happen to us, and even then we wouldn’t be good enough to be with God.

That’s where Jesus comes in. But who exactly is he?

Remember on Tuesday we were trying to work out the Trinity? Well, Jesus is
part of the Trinity. He is God, but He’s a little different to the other two parts
of the Trinity, too. But Jesus came to earth and became a human like us. Only
there was one difference; He was perfect. He never did anything wrong. He
was the only person without sin.
But because Jesus was God, he loved us so much and wanted us to be with
Him forever. So, even though he was perfect, he took the blame and the
punishment for everything bad that anyone’s ever done and ever will do. That
way, we are free from the blame, if we ask Him to help us.
Jesus is more than that, too. He isn’t just some abstract superhero, although
He certainly is something of a superhero. He’s real and He loves us so much
He’ll die the worst possible death for us. He’s like our best friend.
