Support for environmental research and education
AlmaLab is a perfect place to carry out training, education and research projects
of both companies and universities. Education can be lectures or practical work
in the laboratory. Research and development projects can be joint studies as
thesis works or investigations together with specialists of the Department of
Environmental Sciences.
Research project of a company is usually
based on an idea that needs research to be
developed to a product or service. In
AlmaLab, the aims of the study are defined
together with the client and a project plan is
prepared. The project plan includes
estimations of the resources needed, time
frame, and costs. A project contract including
agreement on confidentiality regarding the
project and results is then prepared and
signed. The progress of the project is
followed regularly in collaboration.
AlmaLab offers clients companies and other
universities an easy access to modern,
expensive facilities and in-house expertise
for method development, sample preparation
and analysis, and interpretation of the results.
DIVERSE AND MODERN LABORATORY
AlmaLab comprises of more than 700 m2 of
floor space divided into several special
laboratories.
Laboratory 1 is a basic laboratory for various
routine tasks and sample pretreatment.
Laboratory 2 is full of analytical equipment,
like chromatographs, mass spectrometers,
spectrophotometers etc.
Laboratory 3 is dedicated to biotechnology
analyses with different PCR-devices and
electrophoresis systems.
AlmaLab also has separate rooms for soil
analyses and for experiments of different
types (ecotoxicology, aquatic sciences and
biotechnology) in temperature controlled
rooms.
In addition, AlmaLab has access to a field
station equipped with 2 m3 lysimeters for
large scale experiments in open air.
There is also a teaching laboratory for
about 20 students. This laboratory is
equipped with everything needed for basic
laboratory work.
