Dear CDM High School Families,
On behalf of the CDM High School Volleyball Foundation, we welcome you to the 2013 Boys
Volleyball Season.
With great pleasure we welcome back Steve Conti for his 18th year as head varsity coach.
Coach Conti has led the CDM Boys’ team to CIF Championships in 1998, 2000, 2005, 2007 and
2011. The 2011 season ended with a magical run that earned the team it’s first Regional State
Title and the ESPN Rise National Title. In addition, Coach Conti earned CIF Coach of the Year
honors. We are pleased to announce that Curt Hanson will also return as assistant coach.
The CDM Volleyball Foundation focuses on providing the coaches and players the tools and
equipment they need to continue to build a strong volleyball program. Our only two avenues of
raising the necessary funds are through donations and fundraising. Our annual fundraiser
is the sale of ads in our annual printed program. The revenue generated pays for team uniforms,
coaches’ stipends, equipment, transportation, tournament fees and all other operating expenses.
In order to have a successful program, we need to have a successful ad sales drive. We are
asking each Freshman/Sophomore team and JV team player to set a personal goal of raising
$1200. We ask that Varsity players set your goals a little higher at $1800. Businesses in our
community are very willing to support CDMHS athletics-they just need to be asked. It is easiest
to solicit businesses that you frequent (i.e. dentist, gas station, restaurant, barber, clothing store,
etc.). Two of our most popular ads are the “family tribute” ad to your player and the “business
card” ad. You can see samples of the different types of ads in last year’s program. A sample of
a solicitation letter for local businesses and for your neighbors can be downloaded from the
website. The deadline for ads is Monday, February 25.
When you solicit ads, please show potential advertisers last years high quality program. Be sure
to tell them our program is distributed for free at all home games, seen throughout the
community, and their support is also listed on our website, www.cdmvolleyball.com. Have your
advertiser use the enclosed ad form.
If you or someone you know (i.e. grandparents, neighbors, other foundations) would like to make
a donation to the CDM High School Volleyball Foundation, our treasurer Anne Stafford would be
happy to collect those checks. The CDMHS Volleyball Foundation is a non-profit organization so
all donations are tax deductible.
