EVOLUTIONARY TIME, THE FOURTH ANTROPIC

There is nothing more difficult to plan, more doubtful of success, more
dangerous to manage than the creation of a new system. The innovator
has the enmity of all who profit by the preservation of the old system
and only lukewarm defenders by those who would gain by the new
system.

TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY READ “TIME THE ELUSIVE FACTOR”, THESE PAGES ARE UP TO
THE CORE OF THE SUBJECT , YOU CAN SKIP THEM AND BEGIN READING AT PAGE 5, BUT AS A REMINDER
I STRONGLY SUGGEST TO TAKE A MOMENT AND READ IT ANYWAY .
At the origin of the universe very basic building blocks, already defined in
the three-dimensional hexagonal quantum canvas, were transformed into
more complex structures and the factor time
played no role in this process. The formation of
the universe was and still is an ongoing process
with faults and successes, which eventually leads
to the small and large structures around and above
us. There was no need for a time factor in the
genesis of the cosmos until the first lump of
organic matter responded to its surroundings.
The simplest organism ever, a biochemical structure, that drew its energy
from the watery environment in which it originated through osmosis,
developed over time a very rudimentary electromagnetic radiation sensitive
spot which could have been the precursor of a nervous system that enabled
these organisms, at a very basic level, to be aware of their surroundings.
It is unlikely that that sensitive spot already responded to the wavelengths
that we perceive, this probably shifted evolutionary.
To enable the interaction between the clear-cut outside world, and the
precursor of this nervous system, a suitable “sense organ” had to develop in
order to make it possible to translate the number of bits of data derived
from the electromagnetic field into manageable information.
This very early underdeveloped nervous system was not yet able to affect
the correct sequence of these bits which would have resulted in jerky

impressions/movements, a succession of small, non- flowing events with
much background noise.
The solution lay in the development of a kind of filter so that by dividing
the incoming data (colored dots in this example) with extremely small
spatial separations the input of that same data became much more fluid.
The more spatial separation between the receiver and the incoming data
the farther away that data (was) is situated.
Reduction of data input and interference suppression made it possible to
detect and/or identify distinctive points or regions, transforming images
into point clouds.
These elements, the possibility to translate a number of bits of data
derived from the electromagnetic field into manageable information and
dividing these data with extremely small spatial separations gave birth to
the concept of “depth” which made it possible to visualize the world in
three dimension.

When at a certain point in evolution this basic life form made its first
attempt to explore the environment, it was important to be able to
estimate how much effort it would take to go from point A to point B
and back .... and each time distance (= spatial separation between the
receiver and the incoming data) was further subdivided into smaller
chunks which gave a more exact idea of the distance to bridge.
The
more " chunks " the more accurate the measurement, and ultimately these
chunks were the forerunner of what became finally known as .... TIME.
(“The music is not in the notes, but the silence in between”
~Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart~)
Time is an evolutionary given and not something that sprouts out of the
big bang or whatever was the beginning of our universe.
Our modern brains are still working on the old principle of reducing data
input and suppression of interference in perceiving objects and events
at any speed, which often gives us a distorted picture of reality.
It is my strongest conviction that these few pages will bring about a
revolution in our thinking and our knowledge. It will not radically change the
routine issues but it will have a huge impact on the way scientific thinking
will shape the future, an example:
The Big Bang was not an explosion as is generally thought but rather an
expansion of space, distances between individual particles the size of the
Planck length (vibrating strings) became larger and larger until finally the
universe emerged as we know it today, a process that is still going on.

These strings became the building blocks of the structures and underlying
principles of the universe.

It is only when that early underdeveloped nervous system finally evolved
into Homo Nuevo that the time factor, primarily developed as a survival
strategy, became among other things a tool to explore and discover his
environment handicapped by the limitations of its early brain … pushed it
into the role of OBSERVER.
THE FOURTH ANTHROPIC PRINCIPLE* - THE OBSERVER UNMASKED
(*Anthropic principle: a collection of ideas where the existence of intelligent observers
determines the fundamental structure of the Universe: Brandon CARTER - 1974)
The anthropic principle has three forms weak, strong and final, ……

(WAP) Weak anthropic principle. The observed values of all physical
and cosmological quantities are not equally probable, but they take on
values restricted by the requirement that there exist sites where
(carbon-based**) life can evolve and by the requirement that the
universe be old enough for it to have already done so.


(SAP) Strong anthropic principle. The universe must have those
properties which allow life to develop within it at some stage in its
history.

(FAP) Final anthropic principle. Intelligent information-processing
must come into existence in the universe, and, once it comes into
existence, it will never die out.
… but there is one very important fourth missing principle:
 (FIP) First intelligent observer principle: "Intelligent information
processing must come into existence on a planetary system in the
universe and once it comes into evidence investigative observers
will emerge, making observations compatible with that conscious
life that is observing.
And when I refer to “conscious life" I am not referring to Homo Sapiens
alone but to any observer anywhere in the universe ..... a dolphin, a chimp,
ET, .... you name it
(** this is a misconception and an especially restrictive description, because there are several
chemical elements that could potentially procreate life, carbon worked for the conditions on Earth,
under different conditions silicon could be a suitable candidate even metal-oxide-based life could
be a possibility under certain conditions.)

STRUCTURALISM
Jean Piagets*** theorie of the development and structure of the
intelligence together with the general conceptual perspectives and
epistemological considerations upon which it rests, has implications that
extend far beyond psychology to the other behavioral sciences, philosophy,
and logic.
Piaget takes to be central for structuralism “human constructions”, human
beings
constructing
and
discovering
structures,
thereby
finding
intelligibility in the universe.
And there is also his theory of intellectual development which he defines
as “genetic epistemology” (a branch of philosophy concerned with the
theory of knowledge), that collides with empiricism and rationalism which
he describes as geneticism, (the belief that all human characteristics are
determined genetically), without structure.
However, he overlooked one crucial element, he did not mention the
importance of language, be it sign language, spoken language, smell, …. or any
other form of language (speech) to me a KEY FACTOR in the process of
evolution and intellectual development?
So, when I wrote about the evolutionary time factor I took it a step
further. Piaget was writing/talking about HUMAN constructions, where my
interpretation starts at the very early stage in evolution, those first
organisms who interacted with
the environment. There were no
preconceived surroundings but already organisms constructing and
discovering structures, thereby finding comprehensibility in the world
around them and later on as they evolved, in the universe.
(*** Jean PIAGET developmental psychologist – born 1896
died
1980)

THE ORIGIN OF NUMBERS AND THE CONSEQUENCES
At a certain point in evolution basic life forms made their first attempt to
explore the environment and it was important for them to estimate how far
a potential food source was situated to be able to grab it with a/its
tentacle(s) or to suck it in, or even how much effort it would take to go
from point A to point B and back …. the essence of the origin of numbers
was already vaguely captured.
That first organism only had two options either there was confirmation or
there was denial on its estimation that the spatial separation between him
and the “target” was or was not in accordance with its possibilities. It was
a Yes (1) or a No (0), synapses fired or not and in response of that signal it
provoked an eventual reaction.
In fact, it was the first structured signaling device that emerged with a
digital background and in a way, it was the first vowel and consonant of a
structural internal language, but still working on “brain” level. In a further
phase of development that internal language was almost certainly
sophisticated with concepts such as IF (what to change), THEN (to change
into), OR ELSE (how to cause the change) …. In an attempt to maintain or
improve the ongoing process.
To externalize that internal language and to communicate on a very basic
level with a similar organism there must be a means of signaling, be it with
a wobble of the body, the stretching and bending of a tentacle …. and by
repetition even indicate or suggest the source of the danger or the distance
to a potential food source.

* A number therefore is the externalization of an internal brain process
converted in a movement and visually coordinated and processed by that
same brain …. a closed loop.
* Measurement or system of measure, has its roots in the externalization
of that internal language of the brain in an attempt to pin point a target
visually coordinated and processed by that same brain …. a closed loop.
* Later when that early organisms developed auditory abilities, basic
communication skills were complemented by sound, a first attempt at verbal
communication .... speech a key factor in the process of evolution and
intellectual development.
From that point on, mathematics gradually became a world language, from
the little Ishango bone to the proof of Fermat's last theorem. Science and
knowledge evolved to model the world and then Charles Darwin**** ...
published his “On the origin of species” on 24 November 1859.
Natural selection is the key component of his theory, it explains the
relationship between variations, the eventual evolution of species and the
adaptation to their environment by natural selection allowing those species
best adapted to their environment to survive and flourish, but I am
confident that giving the answer to the true nature of time is an addition
to his work, without the very first development of those early organisms
the world as we know it would have come to a standstill or have developed
in a very different direction.
(**** Charles DARWIN founder of the theory of evolution 1809-1882)
