Assistant Coach Itoro Coleman
Itoro Coleman who played at Clemson
in 1995-99, is entering her second year as
an assistant coach for the Lady Tiger program.
Coleman helped lead Clemson to the
ACC Championship in 1996 and 1999, her
freshman and senior seasons. The Lady
Tigers also advanced to the NCAA Final
16 in 1999.
Coleman received her highest honor in
the fall of 2002 when she was named to
the ACC’s 50-Year Anniversary Women’s
Basketball Team, one of our Lady Tigers selected.
Coleman finished her career in ninth place on the Clemson
career list for most points scored with 1,409. She also finished
her career in 13th place on the Lady Tigers career list for most
rebounds with 543. She is also third on the Clemson career list
for most steals with 265 and third on the school’s career list for
most assists with 459.
She had a triple double vs. Wake Forest on January 17, 1999
as she had 12 points, 10 assists and 11 rebounds. She was named
first team All-ACC in 1999 and was the unanimous ACC Tourney
MVP in 1999. Umoh-Coleman was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press her senior season. She
also played in the Pan-Am games in 1999 as well as the All-Africa
games for Nigeria.
The native of Hephzibah, GA graduated from Clemson in 2000
with a degree in speech and communications. She served as a
student-assistant coach at Liberty in 1999-2000 then served as
an assistant coach at Butler in 2000-2002. She also pursued a
professional career and became the first Lady Tiger named to a
WNBA active roster in 2000-01.
“Itoro is a hard worker and showed tremendous leadership as a
member of our two ACC Championship teams,” said Clemson Head
Coach Jim Davis. “She is a tremendous asset to our basketball
program. She has an undying love for Clemson and pride in the
paw that is contagious. She is a tremendous role model for our
young ladies.”
“She and her husband Harold are both Clemson graduates and
are happy to be a part of the Clemson family.

Itoro Coleman was a first-team All-ACC player in
1998-99 when she led the Lady Tigers to the ACC
Tournament title and a NCAA Sweet 16 finish.

Assistant Coach Mike Hodge
Mike Hodge is entering his fourth year
as an assistant women’s basketball coach.
He is in charge of player development during the offseason and works mainly with
the post players during regular practice
position development.
Hodge has been and continues to be a
student of the game-constantly trying to
learn new methods and techniques to help
the players reach their full potential. Referred to as “the fundamental king” by the
players, Hodge constantly stresses fundamental and playing the game right.
Hodge came from Palmetto High School (Williamston, SC)
where he was Head Girl’s Coach for four seasons.
Prior to his stop at Palmetto High School, Hodge spent 29 years
at McMinn Central High School in Englewood, TN. He spent the
last nine years as the Head Boy’s Coach at McMinn Central. During
those nines seasons, his teams won three district championships
and advanced to the state semifinals in 1990.
He was also
named Coach of the Year in the district three seasons.
Hodge also served as girl’s basketball coach, baseball coach,
and golf coach, during his tenure at McMinn Central High School.
Hodge graduated from Tennessee with a B.S. in Natural Science and earned a M.S. at Tennessee Tech. He taught Biology
for 30 years. He is a native of Rutledge, TN.

knowledge, experience, and talent. Throughout his career, his
reputation as a classroom teacher and coach is excellent."
