MGM(1) Monash University International Student Service Official Minutes Meeting 1 of MUISS General Meeting was held at 6.p.m. on the 2 of March, 2017 in MUISS Lounge, Campus Centre 1. Acknowledgement of traditional owner of land This MGM acknowledges and pays respect to the people of the Kulin nations as the original and ongoing owners and custodians of this land. The MUISS commits itself to actively fight alongside Indigenous people for reconciliation and justice for all Indigenous Australians. MGM(1) Confirmation of Agenda Order: 1. Meeting date and time for MGM To ensure MUISS Committee have efficient internal communication, MUISS will held a General Committee Meeting (MGM) each week. However, the date and time of MGM is yet to be confirm as we try to include as many members as possible to participate. After show of hands, we agree we will have a poll within the committee Facebook group to finalise the date. Queenie Chung (General Secretary) will be responsible for setting up the poll. 2. Regarding General Committee Training Session The MUISS General Committee Training session will take place between 4th of March and the 5th of March. The starting time for the training sessions are 9 a.m. and the ending time for Saturday will be 5p.m. and Sunday will end on 3:30 p.m. The training sessions includes introducing MUISS as a whole, responsibilities, etc… 3. Photo Day during training session This year MUISS will have their committee photo taken during training session (March, 4th) After series of discussion, the final decision is as listed: Publication: Baby blue Services and Welfare: Red Education: Pattern Activities: Pink General Secretary: Navy Blue Treasury: Grey and Black All executives will dress in black and white and the dress code will be smart casual for all. 4. Intercultural Competence Committee (ICC) Training MUISS has been participating in the development of intercultural competence around campus and this year MUISSEC have decided to add in ICC as a component of training. ICC training will take place in Week 2, Saturday (11/03/2017). During the meeting Queenie Chung (General Secretary) stated it is extremely important for all members to complete the online course session before the actual training session. MGM(1) 5. Queer Committee Training This year, MUISS is aware of the importance of being inclusive and we also encourage our members to do so as well. Therefore, this year we are introducing the Queer training provided by the Queer department of MSA. The Queer training will be provided by the Diversity and Inclusive Department. The date of the training is yet to be confirmed by next week after talking to the Diversity and Inclusion Department 6. Date of Free Breakfast Free Breakfast have become one of MUISS’s signature event, and it is important for this event to continue. However, to make this event successful MUISS must ensure that enough members attend each session. The first free breakfast will be held this Friday (3/3/2017) from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., However Faye Guo (Services and Welfare Officer) would like to have a set date for this event. After talking to member within the same portfolio, they have set the date to every Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.. 7. Motion for Free-breakfast: Draft Motion 1 “That this MUISS Committee authorises the expenditure of $2000 (for both semesters) to pay Free-breakfast from budget line – Projects & Campaign (Project line 651100)” Mover: Faye Guo Seconder: Astika Saxena For: 25 Against: 0 Abstain: 1 Motion Carries MGM(1) General Committee member Akshita Bhatia asked “why the motion being passed is expensive.” Queenie Chung (General Secretary ) Responed: “This is because the total payment for both semester.” General Committee member Sheik Adnaan Shakil asked “What is the total budget, for this budget line?” and Queenie Chung (General Secretary) respond was “7000 dollars, however the remaining budget of this budget line may be use in other events as well.” 8. Motion for Board Games Night: Board Games Night will happen 3 times per semester, and the current proposed budget includes extra expenditure such as board games maintenance. $480 will be for drinks and food for all board games night events and $350 for extra expenditures. Draft Motion 2 “That this MUISS Committee authorises the expenditure of $850 (for both semesters) to pay Board Games Night from budget line – Other Activities (Project line 652900)” Mover: Joy Lau Seconder: Audrey Miranda Prasetya For: 26 Against: 0 Abstain: 0 Motion Carries 9.
