Changing a Cost Centre Group

Purpose
Use this procedure to change a cost centre group.
Trigger
Perform this procedure when a cost centre group requires changing.
Prerequisites
None.
Menu Path
Use the following menu path to begin this transaction:

Select Accounting  Controlling  Cost Center Accounting Master data  Cost
Center group Change to go to the Change Cost center group screen.

Additional Information

Cost centres with similar characteristics can be grouped together into cost centre groups.
You can then use these groups to build cost centre hierarchies that represent the structure
of the organisation. The individual cost centres always form the lowest level of the
hierarchy.

There must be at least one group, known as the standard hierarchy, which contains all cost
centres and represents the entire business organisation. For the University this group is
UOLGROUP. The standard hierarchy has already been created during the configuration of
the SAP system, and can be viewed via transaction OKENN. Each time you create a cost
centre, you must assign it to a cost centre group within the standard hierarchy to ensure
that management reporting is complete.

You can also create any number of groups outside the standard hierarchy. You may wish,
for example, to group together cost centres according to different criteria, such as divisions
or units within departments or by activity. Such groups can then be used as a basis for
reporting, planning, or for internal cost allocations.

icon, and then place the cursor on the cost centre order (or cost centre range) after
which you want to insert the new orders.
