Cast-iron stoves – the heart of the kitchen

Cast-iron stoves
– the heart of the kitchen
The story of a survivor
Few eras of our history have shown such speedy development as the last 150 years.
The list of technological and scientific achievements is long. Only few products have
survived until today instead of ending up in a museum or being forgotten.
One of them is the cast-iron wood stove. It fundamentally changed our relationship
with the kitchen, with domesticity and with warmth.
Today, we are very proud to still be able to sell Swedish-made cast-iron stoves.
The SMÅLANDSSPISEN 1896 (OLD SWEDEN) – built after a model from 1896 – with a
design from the ’30s. VIKING 30 – a timeless small stove that is easy to integrate in
new or old kitchens.
Why change anything when it functions as well today as it did 150 years ago?
And if, in addition, it’s better than many of today’s modern appliances, which use
electricity and contain complicated electronics. A wood stove fits equally well in a
new building and in an old one.
We always strive to fulfil the strict environmental and safety regulations in force,
and are finally content once we’ve exceeded them. Because we want our stoves to
still function 150 years hence. At least!

the successors of Josef Davidsson

A Swedish gem
Dala horses, cinnamon rolls, Falu sausages and midsummer are some of the
examples of Swedish national symbols, traditions and good design which are worth
preserving. Just like the Smålandsspisen 1896 (Old Sweden). The name alone brings
about a nostalgic smile. Many of us have experienced as children the comfort of a
kitchen with a wood-burning cast-iron stove.
The Smålandsspisen 1896 (Old Sweden) is a stove that radiates cosy warmth,
heavy with tradition from the old Swedish kitchen. With this stove, cooking is just as
big a joy as the comfort it creates. It fits in the classical kitchen just as well as in the
hunting lodge or the weekend cottage.
The richly adorned cast iron is like a jewel one enjoys every day. A genuine
sample of Swedish handcraft at its best.

away the everyday stress
to help us relax and truly
enjoy ourselves.

Unexpected visitors
Suddenly there they were, all of them in the kitchen… the youngsters, the friends
and a bunch of neighbours and acquaintances. Blackouts are not unusual in the
småländic forests, and nobody makes a fuss about them. But when the “Gudrun” and
“Per” storms were roaring outside and some houses were cut off from the electricity
supply for months, our Viking 30 was one of the heroes, providing both warmth
and cosiness.
In good or bad weather – it is a real joy to cook on a cast-iron stove that combines
years of experience with top-quality metal.
The narrow Viking 30 stove is Sweden’s bestselling wood stove. Maybe because
it is the only environmentally certified small stove. Or because of its crackle and
fragrance and the warmth it spreads.
VIKING 30 – AT YOUR SERVICE
IN ALL WEATHERS.
A timeless and energy-efficient small
stove. It only needs 5 cm thick sidewalls made of lightweight concrete
as fire protection. Now available

Protected design
These days, more and more restless people search for the simple and
genuine as an alternative to the throw-away culture. The effects of climate
change and the dependence on technology has made people more
vulnerable and the environment is just as stressed as us people.
If you ask us, design must always be determined by respect for the
environment, function and sustainability. Our wood stoves are today valued
both for their typical Swedish design and their reliability.
Idun Nº1 is made today with the same artisan skill as in “the good old
times.” The model is based on a well-known original from the ‘30s, which
today received a thicker cast-iron casing in order to reach an optimal
heating effect.
IDUN Nº1 – TODAY AS HOT
AS IN THE ’30S.
The best proof of good design and
functionality is that it survives all
trends and technical extravaganzas
that come and go.

The NARROW VIKING 30 – Sweden’s bestselling small stove
Timeless design with glass fire door and compact measurements make the Viking 30 a
hit in new and older kitchens. The 5 cm thick lightweight concrete walls on both sides
of the stove are sufficient fire protection. The modern stove achieves a very high level
of efficiency thanks to the secondary air supply through openings in the soapstone
walls. The convection system both ventilates the stove and warms up the ambient air.
An external air connection is possible if if it is fitted into new buildings or in the case of
mechanical ventilation. The stainless stove banister is black and does not heat up during
cooking. Chimney connection rear or above. It includes an enamelled floor plate.

SPARE PARTS.
If you follow our simple instructions, you will enjoy your economical and
efficient wood stove for a long time to come. Only use untreated, dry wood.
Hardwood provides the best heating. Let the wood dry under a roof in a
ventilated place. Take the wood inside the house at least one day before use.
Quality for us means durability, but also
functionality and usability. After long-term use,
you may wish to replace or exchange one or
the other part. In that case it’s good to know
that we store spare parts for more than 1000
models of wood, heating, and tile stoves. We
guarantee that your wood stove will remain
the heart of your kitchen for a long time to
come. We also offer renovation services for
old wood stoves.
Clean the glass fire door regularly with dry paper. Grates and cast-iron parts
should be cleaned with a wire brush. Before emptying the ash drawer make
sure that there is no hot ember left inside. Don’t forget to have the chimney
and the outlet pipes swept regularly.
