ALASKA USA MANDATORY PLAYER RESTRICTIONS 2017
History and General Information
In 2013, the United Softball Association of Alaska created a Restricted Player list to increase team and tournament
participation in the upper men’s and coed leagues. A similar method is used nationally to create parity among the higher
divisions. Alaska USA leadership has adopted similar guidelines for the State of Alaska. Alaska USA ultimately decides who
is considered a Restricted Player, and the list is revised before each season. In addition, for 2017 all Men's Comp players
are considered to be Regulated Players. Teams must follow these regulations when building their teams with Restricted and
Men’s Comp Players. No team may exceed the maximum limit of Restricted Players allowable for their Division Class
during either league or tournament play.
Alaska USA has drafted these guidelines based on the USA Code, National recommendations from USA Leadership, and an
internal Alaska USA Committee. In addition, Alaska USA continually collaborates with local associations and team
managers for feedback and input. This player rating system has created parity among teams in the higher divisions over the
last several years and will continue to be utilized.

APPEAL PROCESS
Starting January 1st each year, players who have been placed on the Restricted List may appeal their rating to Alaska ASA.
Appeals will be accepted through February 28. After this date, appeals will not be accepted until January of the following
year.
