WILLIE MAE ROCK ‘N’ BOWL-­‐A-­‐THON SIGN-­‐UP INSTRUCTIONS 1. Visit http://www.crowdrise.com/wmrc-­‐bowl-­‐a-­‐thon-­‐2013 2. Click on SET UP YOUR FUNDRAISER 3. You will be prompted to either JOIN A TEAM or START YOUR OWN FUNDRAISER. If you are going to create your own fundraising, click on START YOUR OWN FUNDRAISER and go to #4 below. If you are going to join a team that already exists, choose JOIN A TEAM and jump to #11 below. 4. Enter the name of your team in “Fundraising Title” box – NOTE: Best Team Name will get you a prize, so work it! 5. Create a URL in the URL box (click “?” for more info on that optional step). 6. Create a team goal for “Amount of Money you Hope to Raise” – must be a minimum of $500. Be aspirational! 7. In “About Your Fundraiser” create a brief compelling case for why you’re bowling for Willie Mae. This is optional, but a great way to woo your friends to support you. Here is some sample language, which you can use/edit/or replace with your own words: Welcome to my Willie Mae Rock ‘n’ Bowl-­‐a-­‐thon fundraising page! As you may know, Willie Mae is a non-­‐profit organization that literally changes girls’ lives. At Willie Mae, campers learn to play instruments, form bands, and write songs. They learn to be bold and confident. They collaborate. They learn to be fierce and fair. The Rock ‘n’ Bowl-­‐a-­‐
thon will raise money for our Fairness Fund so that ALL girls and trans youth can have access to Rock Camp without regard for their families’ ability to pay. Any amount you give will make a huge difference in the life of a young person who wants to ROCK OUT! Again, this is just a suggested message. Feel free to say whatever feels right for you and your peeps! 8. Hit “Next Step” and add a fabulous photo. 9. Once you’ve created your team page, click INVITE TEAM MEMBERS (the black box on right of your new fundraising page). You’ll then see the link to use in the e-­‐mail you create to invite friends to join your team, and some stock language which you can use if you don’t want to craft your own message. At this point you might want to navigate the “Tool Kit” and “Edit Team Functions” menus to see all the other things you can do. 10.
You and your team are ready to fundraise! Hit the MANAGE CAMPAIGN tab and you will see a link to send to friends asking them to donate money. Following is a sample message you might use in an e-­‐mail body to make the case: Dear ______________, I hope you will sponsor me in the Willie Mae Rock ‘n’ Bowl-­‐a-­‐thon as we raise money for Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls! Willie Mae is a non-­‐profit music and mentoring program for women, girls, and trans youth. The Bowl-­‐a-­‐thon will raise money for the Willie Mae Fairness Fund, which supports need-­‐based scholarships so that all program participants can have access to Rock Camp regardless of whether they can afford tuition. My team, [name of your team], has a goal of $XXX, and any amount you contribute will help us get there. If all of our friends are especially generous, we might win the big fat grand prize of most money raised! Most important, though, your support will make a huge difference in the life of a girl who wants to rock out. Find the team you’d like to join under the FUNDRAISING FOR AN OFFICIAL TEAM banner. You will be prompted to either sign up for a new Crowdrise account or login to your existing Crowdrise account. Follow the instructions either way. 12.
Click JOIN THE TEAM 13.
Click EDIT FUNDRAISER to personalize your own fundraising page. Tailor the “About My Fundraiser” section under the EDIT BASIC FUNDRAISER INFO banner with the message you’d like your friends to see when they come to support you. OR do nothing and your Team Captain’s message will appear. 14.
Hit edit under the SET YOUR FUNDRAISING GOAL banner, and set your personal goal. Be aspirational! This goal can be adjusted as time goes on. 15.
Next, under the UPLOAD PICS AND VIDEOS banner, upload a really awesome picture of yourself that will cause your friends to want to make you the top fundraiser of all so you will win prizes! 16.
Finally, go to MANAGE CAMPAIGN back at the top of the page and you will find the link to send to all of your friends, family, co-­‐workers, etc., in an e-­‐mail or social network post asking them to support you. The link will take them to your personal page. 17.

Donors don’t need to register to donate. They just follow the link you send them and enter the amount they want donate, provide their name (or indicate anonymous), contact info, and credit card info. Unless they opt out, their name and donation will appear on your fundraising page feed. Donations are processed through Network for Good and are 100% tax deductible. •
