50 Years of Ham on Regal Fun Facts To Celebrate 50 Years of Ham we polled our current and past Ham on Regal Players and developed a 50 day countdown to our opening Gram on Regal Show on Sunday April 21st. The countdown started on March 3rd and each day a new Fun Facts will be posted on the Front Web Page, on Facebook and on Twitter. Here’s Fun Facts 40-31. March 13th Fun Fact #40: In the 1963 performance of “Hootenanny” one of the featured performers was a 6 year old girl named Kari Ann Pearson, no relation to the 2013 Show Chairs Tim and Kathy Pearson! She specialized in Norwegian Folk Songs. March 14th Fun Fact #39: During the first 25 years of Ham on Regal Productions more than $115,000 was raised to support Ferris High School. During the second 25 years more than $1.4 million was raised! March 15th Fun Fact #38: Over the last 5 years cast size for Ham on Regal productions has been around 300 each year. The very first production in 1963 had a cast of less than 40! March 16th Fun Fact #37: Since any parent’s time in Ham on Regal is limited by the length of their children’s enrollment at Ferris High School, tenures in the show longer than 10 years are rare. Among the 2013 Cast there is one who has been in the show since 1999 and just a few others with tenures of 10 years or more. March 17th Fun Fact #36: In the 1995 production "Jurassic Pork" a real pig was dressed up to look like a dinosaur! March 18th Fun Fact #35: For the 40th Anniversary Show in 2003, Spokane Mayor John Powers declared March 16th thru 24th “Ham on Regal Week”! March 19th Fun Fact #34: In several past productions The Ferris High School Art Department was used to screen print each and every Show Poster! March 20th Fun Fact #33: The 2006 production of “Ferrist of Them All” spoofed just about every popular fairy tale character you can think of. March 21st Fun Fact #32: The inaugural 1963 production of “Hootenanny” was more like a variety show with individual performances by bands. folk singers, an accordion player and even a yodeler. March 22nd Fun Fact #31: In the final show of the 1998 production of “PhantHam of the Oscars“, one of the cast members pants split from seam to seam during a dance and choral performance of “Nothing But a Dame”. Not missing a beat two female cast members held his pants together as they all exited the stage together. The Seabees sing "Nothing But a Dame” in the movie South Pacific
