Major falls and injuries have decreased since the previous report period. Beechwood NeuroRehab continually strives to ensure the safety and security of the individuals we serve. Part of that effort includes the development of a Falls Protocol that was instituted to analyze the cause and prevention of injury due to falls. The reality of the population we serve is that, as they age, they may face additional challenges both physically and cognitively. Our transdisciplinary team puts into place safety mechanisms and provides guidance to get everyone engaged in the prevention of additional injury. As a result of the Falls Protocol, the number of injuries that occurred under the aegis of the residential program evidenced a significant decrease for the current period, down 42% over the previous equivalent reporting period. The graph at the right illustrates that dramatic decrease, and the majority of falls that do occur do not result in serious injury.
