Characteristics of Persons Served
Beechwood NeuroRehab served a total of 102 persons during Fiscal Year 2014,
which was an 8.5% increase from the previous period. Approximately 86% are served
in the Residential Program and approximately 14% are non-residential clients served
in the Outpatient, Structured Day, and Vocational Programs. This represents an
increase in the proportion of outpatients served from the previous period, which
was 10%, and is an intentional shift to making Beechwood NeuroRehab’s services more accessible to those living in their own homes
in the surrounding communities. Ninety nine percent of all Beechwood NeuroRehab’s clients participated in some level of
NeuroRehab Therapies, Structured Day, or Vocational Programs. In addition to having this productive activity outside their homes,
100% of clients served in Residential programs receive a rich individualized schedule of Life Skills Training and Recreational Activities
designed to maximize

Major falls and injuries have decreased since the previous report period.
Beechwood NeuroRehab continually strives to ensure the safety and security of
the individuals we serve. Part of that effort includes the development of a Falls
Protocol that was instituted to analyze the cause and prevention of injury due
to falls. The reality of the population we serve is that, as they age, they may
face additional challenges both physically and cognitively. Our transdisciplinary
team puts into place safety mechanisms and provides guidance to get everyone
engaged in the prevention of additional injury. As a result of the Falls Protocol,
the number of injuries that occurred under the aegis of the residential program
evidenced a significant decrease for the current period, down 42% over the
previous equivalent reporting period. The graph at the right illustrates that
dramatic decrease, and the majority of falls that do occur do not result in
serious injury.
