I understand that all decisions for the 2017-2018 Baylor Spirit Squads roster are final. I, nor anyone
representing me, will not contact Baylor University spirit squad staff, spirit squad members, any
representative of the University, or Athletics Department regarding the tryout process of final team
selections.

2017-2018 SONGLEADER Audition Process
April 21st:
INCOMING/NEW MEMBERS ONLY

Location: Marrs McLean Dance Studio (3rd floor)
4:30pm Check in/Warm up on your own
5pm PRELIMINARY ROUND will begin (fight song and jazz routine evaluated)
8pm Estimated end of PRELIMINARY ROUND
9pm SEMIFINALISTS announced-semifinalists will enter the studio to learn the
Semifinal hip hop routine

VETERAN/SEMI FINALIST MEMBERS ONLY

8:00am Check in/Warm up on your own
8:15am SEMI-FINAL ROUND will begin (Fight Song, Jazz and Hip Hop routine evaluated)

10:30am FINALISTS announced-Finalists will enter the studio to learn the Final pom

Each applicant will be evaluated on the following:

All of these components will be evaluated equally throughout the audition process to determine the
2017-2018 Songleader dance team.
Results will be posted on the Baylor Spirit Squad website no later than 5:00pm

2017-2018 MASCOT AUDITION PROCESS
Auditions:
CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC!
o Location: Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility
o April 21st, 2017
o Check in 6:00pm
o Auditions will begin 6:30pm
o Auditions scheduled to conclude around 9pm
o Prepare a two minute skit to be performed in front of the Director of Spirit and current mascots
o Ability to work with improvisational items and objects
o Advanced knowledge and previous work with cartoon mascots
o Athletic skills
o Strength and abilities appropriate for required activities.
Mascot’s Audition Process/Guidelines:

Must present/perform a 2 minute skit/dance/show
a. Props are encouraged
b. Music is optional but always encouraged
c. All props must be appropriate
d. All costumes and clothes must be appropriate
e. All songs, backdrops, etc. must be appropriate
2. Opportunity to show the Bruiser “walk”, chance to work with improvisational items and objects,
may be given scenario’s to demonstrate ability to entertain a crowd.
