The highly anticipated AMHA Hunt Seat On The
Flat Gold Medal Finals brought Saturday afternoon
to a dramatic close. Each of the 13 qualifying riders
from an initial field of 40 performed rail work for the
three judge panel then were called back to individually
execute the pattern. The top-ten ribbon winners were
announced in descending order as is customary in the
AMHA Gold Medal Finals, starting with tenth place
team and finishing with the champion.
As the ribbon winners left the arena, the air thickened. By the end, there were just two who remained
– stable mates from Crystal Farms. With a quick
embrace the two wished each other the best and waited
for the announcer to make the call. The Reserve Finals
Champion aboard Delawares Night Life GCH was
Kaylan Hayman. Greeted in the winner’s enclosure by
Crystal Farms trainer, Mary Cartlton, Kaylan proudly
rode off with the Reserve honors back to Battle Creek,
Mich. With a strong performance on the rail and a
flawless pattern, Kaecee Dollard and Sunny Acres
Sneek-A-Peek CH were called out for the unanimous
grand prize and the AMHA Hunt Seat Gold Medal.
Closing the Matinee session in style, Kaecee was the
picture of perfection as she exited the ring to an appreciative round of applause.

themselves ended up in the top two spots. In what was described
by the judges as one of the greatest driving classes they had
ever seen anywhere, it was an amateur driver who took home
the top prize. Showing on back-to-back nights, The Noblest
showed all the heart and determination of the Morgan breed,
digging deep to earn this highest of honors with Paul Brisco at
the lines. Owned by Tom and Teri Brisco, The Noblest finished
off an absolutely fairytale week for Gerry Rushton and Stacy
Hennessy. The Amateur Pleasure Driving World Champion
just last night, The Noblest had twice been the Reserve World
Champion in this class. Paul Brisco more than held his own
in what has traditionally been the domain of the professional
trainers, making a smart drive to be the first amateur to win the
Open Pleasure Driving World Championship in time immemorial. Also putting in a brilliant, Saturday night-style show was
Optimus Prime GCH. The East Coast Pleasure Driving Reserve
Champion at New England, he continued his grand career with
a second straight Reserve World Championship. The Amateur
English Pleasure Reserve World Champion with Dawn Fire last
year, he was reserve tonight with Phil Fountain at the lines for

PERFORMANCE ARENA
Saturday afternoon brought the performance arena competition and equitation world championships to a close. Sixteen
14-17 year-old riders answered the gate called for the Saddle
Seat Senior Equitation World Championship. In the preceding
days Cameron Kay earned the AMHA Saddle Seat Gold Medal
and Mattie Frances Willard topped the UPHA Senior Challenge
Cup. Today’s intense competition for the tricolors came down
to a battle between these two talented and hardworking young
ladies. After determined rail work and an exceptional pattern it
was the AHMA Saddle Seat Gold Medalist, Cameron Kay who
was named World Champion with CN’s Stylish Debut. It was
another crowning achievement for the Crystal Farms team. Mattie Frances Willard capped her sensational season and her junior
exhibitor career as the Reserve World Champion.
The senior world championship for the Saddle Seat Classic
riders was next to enter the ring. After completing a rock solid
pattern, the elegant Lauren White was called out as the unanimous Saddle Seat Classic Senior Equitation World Champion.
It was another memorable victory for White’s partner BJL Ransom and instructor Nikki Rae Woodworth. Showing poise and
perseverance, Robyn Davies expertly guided her FCF Fandango
through rail work and a pattern to be named the Reserve World
Champion.
Having won a Western Equitation World Championship and
a UPHA Junior Challenge Cup Championship just a day earlier,
Victoria Walz entered the ring with the confidence to win it
all again on Saturday. With an excellent pattern and beautiful
rail work, Victoria trotted her way to the winner’s circle as the
Saddle Seat Junior Equitation World Champion. Anne Judd and
Adam Sherman directed Victoria and Sarde’s Sinful to their
second set of roses to cap a fabulous show. For the second year
in a row the elegant and talented Jenna Nordberg was named the
Reserve World Champion. She once again paired up with MEM
Star Power for the tricolor ride under the Lingering Hills banner.
