Introduction
The 2017 2nd and 3rd ICF World Cups, U23 World Championships and Senior World Championships are
the premier international events for U23 and Senior athletes this coming summer. The Team USA trip is
designed to provide an unparalleled at cost trip value, an important experience for athletes to travel
internationally, participate in elite competition and as an important first step towards positioning
oneself for qualification for Tokyo 2020.
Throughout the planning process for Team USA, US Olympic Committee Safe Sport policies and
procedures were utilized to provide a multitude of safety checks to ensure a healthy training and
competitive environment abroad. For questions please contact National Team Coach or the High
Performance Director.
Due to the very short time frame between the Trials, Team announcement and departure for World Cup
2 it is necessary to charge an initial deposit of $500 per athlete due March 15th to cover initial team costs
such as entries, accreditation, deposits for accommodation and transportation and coach expenses .
Those athletes wishing to be considered for a spot on the U23 and Senior National Team are required to
pay the Pre National Team Deposit. Should an athlete that has paid an initial deposit subsequently not
be selected for the U23 and Senior National Team they will receive a full refund of the initial deposit.
Note: If an athlete is selected to the team but then subsequently declines their spot then the initial
deposit will not be refunded. Only athletes that have paid the Pre National Team Deposit and have
completed all the required documentation will be considered for the U23 and Senior Teams.

Team Acceptance
All Senior and U23 2017 USA Canoe Kayak National Team Trials participants are asked to pre-accept
their nomination to the 2017 Senior National Team USA. To pre-accept, participants must complete and
sign the Athlete Agreement and Code of Conduct, the National Team Acceptance, Travel & Payment
Procedure Signature Page and submit a Pre National Team Deposit by March 15th, 2017.
During the selection process, the Sprint Coaches Association and Sprint Selection Committee will review
the performances of pre-accepted and pre deposit ranked athletes to determine who has accrued
enough points to be selected to the team. Participants who do not pre-accept their nomination and do
not pay the Pre National Team Deposit by the required deadline to the 2017 Senior National Team will
not be considered and will be deemed ineligible for a U23 and Senior Team USA nomination.
Athletes nominated for the 2017 U23 and Senior National Team USA will be notified before or during
the 2017 USA Canoe Kayak National Team Trials. A color picture of each team member’s passport is due
electronically to the Team Leader or National Team Coach by the deadline please plan ahead and ensure
your passport is current!
Payment Procedure
National Team Staff depend upon prompt team member deposit and final payments to meet financial
obligations and deadlines for team airfare, accommodation, meals, accreditation, uniforms and boat
rental. In order to meet these obligations, late payment of deposit and final payment are not permitted.
If deposit and final payment are not met in a timely manner, unpaid participants will be subject to nonconsideration or removal from the team per section 5.F the 2017 Senior National Team Selection
Criteria.

2. Entry fees due to LOC - last chance to pay Pre National Team deposit of $500 with $300 late fee
April 20th, 2017
3. Remaining World Cup 2 and 3 Fees - Due to ACA National Office May 21st 2017
4. Remaining U23 Fees and SWC Fees - Due June 1st, 2017
5. Payments made by credit card will be charged an additional 3% processing fee.

There is no provision for illness or injury within Senior and U23 National Team USA. Although staff will
do everything possible to limit the financial burden of an athlete that has to withdraw from Team USA
due to illness or injury, there is no guarantee of any refund of deposit or final payment. Much of the cost
associated with the senior and U23 National Team USA requires the purchase of non-refundable airfare,
accreditation and group payments for boat rental. It is highly recommended that athletes obtain travel
insurance to cover their travel expenditures in the case of unexpected circumstances.

*The projected total trip expense is an educated estimate to assist athletes in financial planning.
Depending on final team size and the actual costs etc. total trip expense will fluctuate. Senior and U23
athletes are encouraged wherever possible to travel in pairs however once in Europe athletes are
required to stay in staff arranged accommodation under the supervision of the National Team Coach.

In consideration of participating on the 2017 Senior and U23 National Team USA trip to World Cup 2 and 3, U23
World Championships and Senior World Championships. I confirm I have reviewed the team acceptance, travel
and payment procedures. I understand that a deposit amount of $500 will be due by March 15th, 2017
in order to officially confirm my acceptance to be considered for the National Teams. If I do not pay by
March 15th, 2017 I understand I will be charged a non-refundable $300 late and that no deposits will be
accepted following the final deposit deadline of April 20th, 2017. I understand if I am selected and then
decline my spot at Trials that the whole deposit is non-refundable. However, the deposit is refundable if
an athlete is not selected to the team. I understand that if I pay any of my Senior and U23 Racing Team
fees by credit card there will be a 3% processing fee charged by the ACA finance office.
