includingworld-classplayersfromJapan,Thailand,theUSAandCanada
HongKong’srepresentativesoftheWorldYouthScrabbleChampionship2016
tobeintroducedon9JulybeforetheChallenge
TheHongKongScrabblePlayersAssociation(HKSPA)isorganisingthe2ndHongKongScrabble
Challenge on 9 and 10 July, attracting over 70 players from Japan, Thailand, the USA and
Canadatoparticipateinit.

TheHongKongScrabblePlayersAssociation,establishedin2014,istherecognisednational
ScrabbleAssociationinHongKong.TheAssociationaimstopromoteScrabbletostudentsand
thegeneralpublicinHongKong.
HKSPAfirstorganisedtheChallengelastyear,withover30playersfromSingapore,Malaysia,
theUSAandHongKongplaying.Intheend,LiewKianBoonfromSingaporewascrowned
Champion. This year’s Challenge attracted even more players, including national
representatives at the WESPA Championship (World Championship of Scrabble) 2015: Mr.
Warodom Geamsakul (representing Japan), Mr. Taewan Sutthasin (representing Thailand),
Mr.JesseDay(representingtheUSA),andMr.JohnsonTsang(representingHongKongfor
thefirsttimesince20yearsintheWorldChampionship).Mr.GabrielWong,aCanadianliving
inHongKong,willalsobeplaying.TheMaineventoftheChallengewillbeheldon9July
(Saturday)withover70players,whiletheExtraeventwillbeheldon10July(Sunday)with16
invitedtopplayers.
Note:Mr.JesseDayandMr.GabrielWongwillonlyplayonSunday,whileMr.JohnsonTsang
willonlyplayonSaturday.
