The Delancey UK Schools’ Chess Challenge 2014 – Round 2 Update – Round Two was held on 30 January 2014 with 28 of 30 pupils taking part. After two rounds the results are as follows: 6 points: Alfie Rowell, Jack Burton, Jonathan Watkinson, Nicholas Lees, Oscar Townsin 5 points: Joseph Bartram, Sharv Gharminder 4 points: Alanna King, Charles Noel, Charlie Hill, Christian Rollinson, Evan Candish, George Woolf, Georgina Nicholson, James Day, James Mills, Joe Wallace, Marco Lytle, Matthew King, Nicole Rollinson, Sam Simpson, Toby Swann, Valentina Lees 3 points: Anya Marples, Dextor Morris 2 points: Iden Coop, Thomas Smith, Zakkai Pigott 1 point: George Mear, Samuel Edwards It is early stages still in the competition and there are prizes to play for. A win brings 3 points, draw 2 points, a loss 1 point. Non-attendance brings 0 points. Gold spot stickers are won for 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21 points Mascot: 11 points; Match of the Day Book: 15 points; Special prize: 21 points) The overall tournament winner will receive a small trophy/shield Qualifying rules for the Megafinal (to be held early May – possibly the first Saturday - in Lincoln): Any player scoring 17 points or more will qualify for the Megafinal. The leading scorers in Years 1 to 6 (both boys and girls) also qualify, providing that the place in the section has not already been taken by a player scoring 17 or more points.
