Emily is averaging just under
10 saves per game through
the first half of the season,
many of which in incredible
fashion. She recorded the
programs first ever shut out on
3/26 against Sewanakha. In
addition to her prowess
between the pipes, Emily
worked extremely hard in the
off-season on her clearing,
stick work and play out of the
cage. If you come to a game
you will see her leaving her
crease to cover cutters and at
times shut off opposing teams
attackers. She recorded a
season high 12 saves vs.
Seaford on 4/12 making many
of them at point blank range.
Big time players play their best
games in the biggest games.
Emily Vomvas is a big time
player.

For such a new team, the Oyster Bay High School Crew Team has risen above
and beyond my expectations for them as new rowers. One person in particular
who has exceeded expectations is Patrick Conway. Although Patrick has not yet
competed this season, I have big hopes for him and his boat at this weekend’s
regatta, Row for Autism. Patrick comes to practice prepared and ready to row. He
continuously pushes himself past his limits, and works extremely hard every single
day. I'm am very proud of both Patrick and his teammates and look forward to
seeing him sweep away the competition this weekend and at upcoming races.

Victoria Vigliotti is a two year varsity badminton starter. She plays at our second
highest position on the court at second singles. Victoria has three wins and one
loss so far this season in conference 2. Victoria is an extremely hard working
player who continues to improve. We look forward to her continued success and
her representation in the Nassau County Individual Singles tournament in May.
Her dedication to the team and her leadership make her worthy of this honor.

The baseball season is off to a very competitive start this season for the returning
county champion Oyster Bay baseball team. With a current league record of five
wins and one loss, the team is eager to return to the playoffs and defend their title.
The team has been playing well with two athletes that stand out in the young
season.
Harrison Treble is leading the team with a .600 batting average. He has the most
extra base hits and is tied for the team lead in home runs with James Losee. He
leads the team in runs batted in and on base percentage as well. On the mound
Harrison has struck out 28 batters in the 12 innings he has pitched.
James Losee is batting .529 while leading the team in runs scored and walks. As
a pitcher James has won two games and lost none. He also threw a no-hitter
while striking out eleven batters.
It is with eager anticipation that the team looks forward to the rest of the season
with aspirations to go deep into the playoffs. Harrison and James will no doubt
play a huge role in the team’s success this year, as they have already.

Sophomore Kate Devereaux has exploded onto the Spring Track scene, greatly
impressing her coaches and competitors alike. At her very first track meet, Kate
won the 100 meter race with a time of 14.20 seconds. At her second meet, running
against very talented Valley Stream North competitors, Kate finished in third place
in the 400 meter run with an amazing time of 66.8 seconds. Kate has also been a
member of both the 4 x100 meter and 4 x 400 meter relay teams.
