2017 CIT CAMP SHORELINE
PARENT/CAMPER INFORMATION GUIDE
Welcome to CIT!
This handout contains all the information you need to prepare your teen for their first day at camp.
If you have any questions, please contact Angela at 206-801-2645, [email protected].
What is CIT Camp Like?
The CIT program is a training and educational program, with a curriculum designed to develop the people and
technical skills necessary to be an effective camp counselor. It is not "working" at camp. CIT is a camp for
older youth wanting to develop leadership skills. CIT’s are NOT day campers nor are they camp staff.
CIT’s will attend pre-camp training & team building each morning and then move onto spending part of the
day assisting with campers and staff members. Training will consist of planning and playing games, safety
training, and leadership skills. CITs assist in the administration of the program and in the execution of camp
logistics such as: engaging with campers, equipment set up and take down & being role models. In addition,
CITs work with the program staff to organize and conduct activities, prepare lesson plans and lead games on
selected days. CIT's will also help with the following activities: welcoming campers, participating in planning
and implementation of other special activities.
Tuesday through Thursday we will do training and teambuilding activities as well as acting as official
Counselors in Training with Camp Shoreline. The counselor in training program is for teens that are
interested and willing to take on a leadership role. Time at C.I.T. camp is split between learning the skills and
strategies of a camp counselor and time using these skills as an assistant in day camp.

event that a minor injury occurs a parent/guardian will be notified.

What to Bring to Camp:



A sack lunch, snacks, and drink daily: There is no refrigerator or microwave for campers to use.
We regularly have campers with severe peanut allergies and request that campers do not
bring peanut products to camp.
Bring a water bottle: We play outside a lot! There is a drinking fountain in the facility and a
water cooler to fill their bottles. We do not supply cups, so your teen will need their own
water container.
Sunscreen and Sun Protection: Bring appropriate SPF sunscreen for your teen. Please apply
sunscreen generously before camp and provide your teen any hats, sunglasses or clothing
needed for protection from the sun.
What NOT to bring:
Valuables: It is recommended that you leave valuables at home (cell phones, ipods, etc) as we
are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

trips to the Movie Theater, Wild Waves, local beaches and/or rock climbing! They may bring spending
money but are responsible for it.
