Board President Cobb reported that it was significant to note that the reaffirmation of
renewal was passed by almost 2 to 1. He indicated that it might be indicative of some
confidence building that the school system has been working on in the community. He also said
that we will continue to work on it, and hopes that we would get the same kind of vote and
support on our next proposition.
Motion (Babineaux, Bouillion) that the Board approve Resolution 12-12-1776 for
canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the special election of November 6, 2012.
Motion carried.
Assistant Superintendent Sandra Billeaudeau informed the Board that LPSS had applied
for the Louisiana Believes grant program and that the school system had been selected as a 2012
recipient for the I Write! Project. Participating schools are Acadiana High, Scott Middle and
Westside Elementary.
She also reported that the following schools: Acadiana High, L. J. Alleman Middle, O.
Comeaux High, L. Leo Judice Elementary, Lafayette High, Youngsville Middle, J. Wallace
James Elementary and Early College Academy had exceeded their projected scores and would be
receiving $8,500.
Superintendent Pat Cooper reported that State Superintendent John White will be visiting
Acadiana High School on Friday, December 7, 2012 to make the announcement, and invited the
Board members to attend.
