Valid certificate as Certified Project Management Associate (IPMA Level D®)
Documentation: (to be outlined in the re-c-cert sheet)
Experience (professional / business activities)

Proof of at least 350 personnel days of PM activities (PM, PTM, project contributor…) since the original
certification / last re-certification
OR
Knowledge (education / training)

Proof of at least 175 hours of relevant professional development since the original certification / last
re-certification
OR
Experience & Knowledge

Combining experience and knowledge, you need to reach a total of 350 points (as outlined in the recert sheet).

1.4 Accepted education / training activities
All activities need to be assigned to a specific ICB® Competence Element in order to qualify for recertification. Acknowledgeable activities include:

Lectures at universities or institutes of higher education

Training in Project Management

Participation in conferences or symposia

In individual cases further subject-specific activities (project activities, thesis,…) and trainings might
be accepted by the certification body provided the activity can be assigned to a ICB® Competence Element.
One hour of attendance counts as one hour of professional development, up to 75 hours per re-certification
process.

re-certification through other procedures is not possible.

4.1 Explanation of the re-cert sheet
The re-cert sheet serves to verify the candidate’s experience and / or knowledge. The re-cert sheet has to
be filled in completely. The re-cert sheet is based on the Software Microsoft Excel and can be downloaded
from the pma website. To ensure the full functionality of the re-cert sheet, please enable macros after
opening the document (fig. 1). This is merely for processing the information you provided in the re-cert sheet.
The re-cert sheet consists of one summary page and four editable areas. Each area has to be edited
separately. Please use the buttons provided to navigate between the different areas..
4.1.1 Summary page
The summary page offers general information about the re-cert sheet as well as the opportunity to navigate
between the different areas of the document. Please enter your full name (including titles) into the white field
at the top of the page.

At the bottom of the summary page you can check whether the knowledge and / or experience stated are
sufficient for the re-certification. As shown in the example above, a score of 187 points is not sufficient for a
re-certification. Please enter further knowledge and / or experience. You are expected to upload
confirmations for each stated activity / education. The total number of necessary confirmations is displayed
in red at the bottom of the page.
As soon as you have reached enough points the total score will be highlighted in green. Your application
fulfils all formal requirements once you have filled in your personal information, completed the selfassessment and uploaded all necessary confirmations.

4.1.2 Personal information
Please make sure that the information provided is complete and accurate. In case of a successful recertification the new certificate will be sent to your home address. If the invoice will be paid by your employer
or a third party, please enter the corresponding billing information.
Please consider that incorrect/missing information will lead to a delay in the re-certification process.

4.1.3 PM self-assessment
General information on the self-assessment of the PM competences:
The PM competences are divided in 3 different ranges:

Technical competences

Contextual competences

Behavioural competences
The self-assessment must be completed accurately and thoroughly. It therefore requires some time.

In the self-assessment, the level of PM competences is to be calculated by the taxonomic scale (see ICB®)
ranging from 0 to 10, with 10 being the highest value possible.. In order to accomplish a meaningful selfassessment it is necessary to read and understand the description of each competence element in the ICB®
3.0 and the pm baseline. Please assess your knowledge based on these descriptions. The taxonomic table
in the ICB® helps with the estimation and assignment of values.
The respective requirements of knowledge and experience for the various certification levels can be found
in Appendix 2 of the ICB®.
Please note: The application process can only be finished if the entire self-assessment is filled in.

4.1.5 Knowledge
For the re-certification you need proof of experience and / or knowledge in Project Management. In case
you want to re-certify based on your acquired knowledge in Project Management, please enter the relevant
education and / or training here.

4.2 Payment details
The re-certification fee for Project Management Associates (IPMA Level D®) is:

Non-members EUR 198.00 (= EUR 180.00 + 10% VAT EUR 18.00)

pma members EUR 165.00 (= EUR 150.00 + 10% VAT EUR 15.00)
The invoice is due within 14 days without any deductions.
The application is binding.
The applicant confirms the correctness of all given information and agrees expressly with the electronic data
processing and the storage of his/her data (personal data, examination documents, etc.) by pma.
The applicant confirms to have taken note of the „pma code of ethics“. As certified Project Management
Associate and/or as pma member he / she will behave accordingly.
If you have successfully completed the re-certification process your name is going to be published on the
pma and the IPMA® websites as well as in print (once). Only the first- and the last name will be published.
The re-certification is valid for 5 years. After 5 years you can apply for another re-certification.
