Purpose of the Post
To enable people to live as independently as possible with dignity, promoting general wellbeing
and respect for their wishes and preferences, by providing personal care and support in line
with policies and procedures and individualised care and support plans

 Provide the full range of care and support at the primary
location/service as well as across the organisations’ other care
services as and when required
 Provide for all personal care needs, in line with individual care
and support plans
 Ensure peoples’ medication needs are met, prompting and/or
administrating medication in line with the Medication Policy
and care and support plans as required
 Carry out sleep-in duties as and when required.
 Maintain and respect all peoples’ choices, privacy,
confidentiality, dignity and independence, treating them as
individuals
 Ensure that people are fully involved in identifying their own
needs and planning their own support.
 Work as part of a team providing support, as well as lone work
as required

Tenancy Support
Monitor the security and
maintenance of the
building and ensure
tenants are supported to
sustain their tenancies
 Act as key worker for individuals, writing and maintaining risk
assessments and support plans where required
 Maintain accurate records of the support provided, as well as
reporting and documenting any issues as they arise
 Promote effective communication with key internal and
external contacts
 Work within Friendship’s policies and procedures.
 Build and maintain relationships with individuals and external
agencies to encourage general wellbeing and social
interaction
 Behave honestly, reliably and openly in all aspects of the job
 Undertake duties appropriate to the role
 Work flexibly on a 7 day rota including evenings, weekends,
bank holidays and split shifts as required
 Abide by the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers
and Adult Social Care Workers in England
 Manage risk appropriately within the service
 Promote health & safety, safeguarding and wellbeing for self
and others at all times
 Ensure that individuals are supported in understanding and
managing their tenancy, maximising their income, paying their
rent and utilities, reporting repairs and using available facilities
 Promote the involvement of customers in all aspects of the
service. maintain the security of the building
 Support and enable individuals who wish to move on to
alternative accommodation
 Monitor and report any concerns relating to repairs and
maintenance

at the request of their Manager. Duties may vary as and when localised procedures are
updated or renewed with varying local authorities that Friendship works with.

PERSON PROFILE
SUPPORT WORKER
QUALIFICATIONS
 NVQ/Diploma level 2 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or willing
to work towards
 Certificate in Mental Health/Learning Difficulties or equivalent
EXPERIENCE
 Able to demonstrate understanding of the values required in the role
 Able to demonstrate experience of supporting individuals through paid
work, voluntary or lived experience
 Able to demonstrate understanding of the skills required to deliver
care/support
KNOWLEDGE
 Safeguarding knowledge and good practice
 A general awareness of Health and Safety requirements
SKILLS
 Good verbal and written communication
 Able to keep legible and accurate records
