Cazenovia Summer Driver Education
June 26th (Friday) – July 23rd (Thursday)
Students MUST be 16 and have a permit or driver’s license before the start date of this session. Drivers
Education is divided into two parts: theory and in car experience. Each student is required to have a
minimum of 24 hours of theory instruction. Theory classes are treated as a high school level class with
tests, homework, reading assignments, and a final exam or final project. Theory classes meet from 8:30 to
10:00 am beginning Friday. After Friday June 26th all theory classes will meet Monday – Thursday.
Students should make every effort to attend all theory classes; all missed classes must be made-up.
Between June 26th and July 23rd h Driver’s Education should be the first priority for all students. If
Driver’s Education cannot be the first priority for students they should reconsider registration. All
theory and driving classes will begin and end at the High School. In addition to theory classes each student
is required to have 24 hours of in car experience consisting of six hours of driving and 18 hours of
observation. Each time slot has 4 students. Driving times are as follows and will be assigned by the
instructor:
7:00 – 8:30 am, 10:00 – 11:30 am, 11:30 – 1:00 pm, 1:00 – 2:30 pm, 2:30 – 4:00 pm (if necessary).
Your child will drive most days at the same time. On certain occasions, students might drive one session
earlier or later. Any missed driving time must be made up. It is important that if your child needs to drive
at a certain time or needs to carpool with another student please make note of it on the bottom of this
registration form. The instructors will make every attempt to meet your requests but make no guarantees.
