The Fresh Start Futurity, Maturity and 4D Barrel Race has the right to refuse entry of anyone for any reason. All decisions made by the producers of the Fresh Start Futurity and Maturity will stand and are final. Horses ages 5 years and under having been foaled in 2012 or later are eligible to be run in the Futurity. Theses horses cannot have run competitively in barrel racing in any forum including, but not limited to barrel races, play days, rodeos, jackpots, breed shows, futurities etc. prior to December 1, 2016. They can compete in different events. A photo copy (front and back) of the entered horse’s papers are required and should be included in the initial entry. Should a horse be grade, a signed affidavit from a veterinarian stating the horse’s age and a detailed description must be presented. An owner can enter multiple horses. The owner DOES NOT need to ride their horses. A rider can ride multiple horses. Payment in full ($160) is due by April 15, 2017 a. Entries, along with front/back copy of registration papers or veterinarian affidavit should be mailed to: Fresh Start Futurity Penny Schlagel 505 S 3rd St Beresford, SD 57004 b. Late entries taken until May 12, 2017 at 5:00 pm for $200 paid in CASH. Pre-entered horses will be included in random draw. The draw for the 1st Go Round will be reversed for the 2nd Go Round. Late entries will run at the end of the pre-entered horses each day, with their order reversed. There are NO REFUNDS for any reason. Substitutions are only allowed due to death, illness or debilitating injury to either horse or rider. Substituted horses or riders must meet above stated eligibilities. A written statement from a licensed veterinarian or medical doctor must accompany request for substitution. All substitutions and supporting documents, including paperwork for horse that is being substituted, along with a $25 substitution fee must be in place with the office no later than 8:00 am on Saturday, May 13,, 2017. All horses must be checked in and numbered. Registration papers or an affidavit from a veterinarian must be presented at this time. The Futurity will be 2 go-rounds and an average with the monies divided as follows: a. 30% 1st Go b. 30% 2nd Go c. 40% Average. The payout will be progressive based on the number of horses entered. The 2D will be based on a 1 second split. Please acquaint yourselves with the rules for hauling horses into and around South Dakota. A current health certificate and negative Coggins test is required and may be checked at any time.
