Players Contribute Nearly Two Million Points to
Arizona Charlieʼs Feed a Family Program
About 600 People Received A Holiday Meal
LAS VEGAS - January 9, 2013 - It turned out to be a huge success!
With the final tally counted, nearly two million ace | PLAY points were contributed by
community-minded ace | PLAY members for the Arizona Charlieʼs Feed a Family
program which provided holiday meals to local families in need.
The Feed a Family program was historic in that it was the first time Arizona Charlieʼs
Casinos allowed players to use their points for something other than comps, cash or
free play.
“The response from our players was incredible,” said Ron Lurie, Arizona Charlieʼs
Decatur General Manager. “Being our first year doing this, we didnʼt know what to
expect and we were thrilled by the response.”
“Our players have a giving heart and they wanted to improve the holidays for those less
fortunate,” said Mark Majetich, Arizona Charlieʼs Boulder General Manager.
For every 12,000 ace | PLAY points contributed by players, Arizona Charlieʼs purchased
holiday food baskets of groceries sufficient to feed a family of four. It included a 10pound turkey, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, potatoes, mixed vegetables, dinner rolls
and a pumpkin pie.
The holiday food baskets were delivered to Southern Nevada Regional Housing
Authority (SNRHA) clients prior to Thanksgiving and prior to Christmas. SNRHA was
chosen as their clients have an average annual income of $10,450.
Arizona Charlieʼs players could contribute any amount between one and one million
ace | PLAY points. For every 12,000 points collected, one food basket was created.
The largest single donation came from an anonymous player who contributed 200,000
points to the Feed a Family program. A total of 149 holiday meal baskets were
delivered to SNRHA, feeding 149 families, thatʼs nearly 600 Las Vegas citizens.
