COMPUTING/ICT FACULTY
Dear Applicant,
We are looking to appoint a teacher for Computing to cover for maternity cover on a one year fixed
term contract from November 2014, or an earlier start if appropriate.
At present, there are 2 members of the ICT therefore the position will require you to work closely
with the Head of Department, which will be an excellent support for an applicant to feel comfortable.
The Computing and ICT teachers here at Our Lady’s are part of a hardworking and industrious
department that puts a high value on ICT and Computing in the curriculum. The department is going
through a transitional period moving from ICT to Computing, however the dedication of the team
highlights how we strive for excellence and improvements each year regardless achieving 77% A*-C
with GCSE ICT last year and the desire to reach a similar standard with GCSE Computing next year.
Historically the department is well known for its commitment to pupil progress with Teaching and
Learning regularly graded as good or outstanding.
The department have the use of 2 ICT suites with interactive SMART boards, printing facilities in
each classroom. The ICT system within school provides access to all Microsoft and Adobe packages
with Scratch, Kodu and Python also installed. The department has strong relationships with the
onsite ICT technicians who are on hand to ensure teaching and learning is fluid and undisrupted.
Currently key stage 3 pupils are studying our own schemes of work under the new national curriculum.
Key stage 4 pupils are following specifications for their different option courses which are AQA ICT,
AQA Computing and AQA Media Studies. Any applicants will only be expected to teach and support
GCSE Computing and ICT classes. The ability and willingness to develop personal expertise and to
complement our existing work in these areas is seen as essential. At Our Lady’s we endeavour to
provide our pupils with access to our ICT facilities regularly with this in mind it would be an
expectation that afterschool homework clubs are run regularly. Therefore, a commitment to
supporting the delivery of extracurricular activities is of paramount importance.
If you are seeking a new challenge or are recently qualified we would welcome your application.
Should you wish to arrange an informal visit myself, Miss Woosey will be more than willing to show
you around and discuss the role in more detail.
Thank you for considering Our Lady’s and we look forward to hearing from you
Miss Woosey
