Position: Play Ranger Hours: 5 hrs Evening & weekend work will be required £10 per hour Senior Play Ranger Salary: Responsible to: CORE FUNCTION: To provide an inclusive play service that children will have fun, stay safe, be inspired, make friends, learn, contribute to and provide them with life skills socially and individually. DUTIES: Plan, organise and supervise outdoor free play activities for children 5 to 12 years old including team games, drama, music and other activities including arts and crafts activities and in some cases taking children on day trips and outings. Encourage children to help plan and choose the kinds of activities that they would like to do enabling them to experiment and learn about themselves and the world around them while allowing them to experiment and take risks within the safety of the project. Supervise children at all times making sure that safety procedures are followed conforming to the projects Child Protection and Health & Safety policies and other relevant policies and complete any appropriate reports e.g. accident / incident forms. Encourage good behaviour and deal with any challenging behaviour in accordance with the projects policies and procedures. Contribute to joint working and partnership working ensuring positive relationships with all concerned. Support all CY and Edinburgh Play Rangers play events attending meetings, sourcing materials, producing itinerary sheets / information sheets and support the collation and write up events reports. Contribute to the CY and Edinburgh Play Rangers activity plan and take part in the quarterly review and present to Go2Play quarterly. Order and source materials for play activities. Also ensure folders are stocked up weekly ensuring enough registers, accident forms etc. Complete First Aid checklists and sign off every Monday Undertake quarterly Risk Assessment including risk benefit for all play activities, events, trips etc. ensuring copies are placed in each group folder. Monitor and evaluate the project through the collation of street play base lines and on an on-going basis inputting statistics into the database, keeping accurate records including parental consents, session registers, session evaluation and series evaluations including case studies. As well as supporting the 1/4ly report write up. Participate in appraisal and supervision, attend internal meetings as required and attend any training identified as relevant. Carry out any duties as may be reasonably requested by the Senior Play Ranger/ Manager (this may include hands on support to other CY and Edinburgh Play Rangers programmes).
