EC3 Term Two Information
Dear Parents and Guardians
Welcome back! We hope you had a fantastic holiday and are ready to embark on your child’s
learning journey for Term 2. We have had a great start to the term and have settled in well with
routines. This term we are developing our pre-literacy and pre-numeracy skills by exploring Fairy
Tales, Nursery Rhymes and Counting Rhymes so that we can become awesome readers, writers
and mathematicians!
Also this term we are working to fill our Work Sample Book with our fantastic work so that we can
“show off” to you when we bring it home before the next lot of holidays. In our Work Sample
Book will be our first ever School Report!
Morning Routine
We are still encouraging children to not only recognise their name but to have a go at writing their
name independently. Please encourage your child to find their name, hold their texta correctly,
trace their name following the arrows and then have a go at writing their name independently.
They can trace over their name a number of times but when they are finished can you please
ensure that they wipe their name clean so it is ready for the next time.
Library
Students will continue to go to library this term on a Wednesday.
Speaking and Listening Program
Our home reading/speaking and listening program will commence this term as of Week 3.
Children will be given a book on a Monday to take home for the week and
return them the following week to swap. More information will be out soon.
News
News telling will begin this term on a Wednesday. Each fortnight children will be given an
opportunity to bring in an item from home. News items will be kept in a designated news box until
news time to ensure all items are kept safe.
Discussing with your child about what to say in preparation for telling news would be of great
benefit to them. We will concentrate on who, what, when and where.
Please see the table below.
The weekly news topics are as follows:
