TINGARA NETBALL CLUB
NEWSLETTER – June 2016
Hello Tingara Members
It is terrific to see all our teams / players out there having fun, enjoying the great game of netball
and proudly representing our club.
Nearing the halfway mark of the season, we have 26 teams occupying the top two spots of their
division ladder, and the vast majority of teams in contention for a top 4 finish. What a fantastic
effort, well done to all the players, coaches and managers for all their hard work so far.
SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS………
Congratulations to Joely Patterson for her selection into the School Sport 15&U State Netball team
to travel and play against other state teams in Adelaide 30 July – 5 August 2016
TINGARA REPRESENTATION AT ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS
Big congratulations to the large number of Tingara players that were selected to represent FNA at
the Association Championships held over the June long weekend.
The club would like to acknowledge the following 2 Tingara players who were named as their
respective teams’ MVP
13-2
14-1
Lilliano Cottino
Montana Turnbull
The 14-1’s team tasted a tense grand final victory and saw strong performances from 6 Tingara
players. Well done girls.
Club Coaches Lori Paterson and Michele Burton (assistant) coached their 12-1 team to an exciting
grand final victory.
It was great to also see a strong number of Tingara parents also involved in coach or manager roles
- this will bring great experiences and know-how back to our club. This augurs well for the future!

“BELT UP” NETBALLS – THANK YOU INSURANCE COMMISSION OF WA
During the month the club took delivery of a number of new “Belt Up” branded netballs for club
use. Supplied by the Insurance Commission of WA, this sponsorship program is designed to
highlight awareness and the importance of road safety.
Tingara is delighted to have received this support and asks all members to keep mindful of the “Belt
Up” message.
Tips of the month
Players tips & tactics
Coaches tips:
Position:
will
come
from
anticipation, and placing yourself
where you expect the action to be
allows you to be in prime position to
cut off an incoming pass. Being
aggressive and going for these
opportunities makes attackers
uncertain, which causes error.
Players to arrange themselves by
playing area during breaks in the
game. That is have the players form
a semi circle around coaches with
goalies standing together at one
side of the semi circle, centre courts
alongside them then finish with
defenders. This makes it so much
easier to speak to each playing area
as a group and makes the most of
the short breaks.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
WEATHER
With recent inclement weather we remind all members to closely follow our facebook page for
updates. It is useful for everyone to familiarize themselves with the FNA wet weather policy
http://www.fremantlenetball.com.au/forms/2010%20Wet%20Weather%20Policy.pdf.
With unpredictability of our weather our communication plan will be as follows:

All Coaches and Managers will be advised and kept abreast of the status of their games by
phone or text, who will then share this information with their teams by phone or text;

Both FNA and Tingara will also continue to issue updates covering the status of all games on
facebook, based on the best available information at the time;
SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNTIES
As the largest netball club in WA, with a passionate and supportive member base, Tingara is again
running a number of sponsorship packages in 2016. These packages can be tailored and represent a
great chance for local businesses to promote their goods and services. If you would like to discuss
these opportunities, please email Mike Parker [email protected] to set up a
discussion.
Another exciting, enthralling month of netball awaits - best of luck for the month ahead, and thank
you to all club members for representing Tingara so well!
