First Team Head Coach Job Description
OBJECTIVE:
To align with the playing model as described by the Director of Football and in
accordance with the clubs strategies.
To be responsible for all first team activities and roles within this team.
To promote acheiveable pathways for the players of Waitemata FC
To liase with and build relationships between the Men’s Reserve Team and Men’s U19s
Team

Responsibilities and Duties

Secure players that will promote the playing style and culture of Waitemata FC as
directed by the Director of Football

Appoint persons to specific roles with in the Firs Team Coach portfolio

Ensure effective coaching direction, leadership, organisation and communication
within the first team, reserve team and U19’s operations

Create a team strategy for effective team play and individual player
development plans to ensure execution

Assist in developing and reinforcing a team culture that is supportive, professional
and meets the needs of the players and team management

Plan and supervise training programs to develop general fitness and strength
conditioning and specific technical football skills.

Establish a supportive environment in which players and coaches are able to
reach their potential

Create specific tactical plays for set pieces – corners and free kicks

With the resources at hand, get an understanding of strengths and weaknesses of
opposing teams and consider the best way to approach each game

Monitor the performance of each player, and work with resources at hand to build
specific training programs and focus needed to develop certain areas

Select players on a weekly basis for first and reserve team activities

Ensure that the players and coaches behaviour on and off complies with the
highest standard of professionalism and is at an example that bestows the Franklin
community

Promote players and managment of First, Reserve and U19s Team to attend Club
functions on a rotation schedule to support the club


Sets clear direction through articulating and promoting the vision and
strategic goals of Waitemata FC





Develops player and coaches goals and objectives, monitor performance
and provide coaching, development and feedback to maximise their
potential
Is calm, confident, and decisive especially under pressure
Inspires players and coaches to attain goals and pursue excellence.
Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions
for change
Facilitates effective team interaction.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:



Minimum of Senior Level 2 Qualification
Relevant Tertiary Education
Previous Experience as a player/coach in the highest Domestic Leagues
